CTV is reporting that "A large lodge constructed entirely of snow and ice is being built in Flin Flon, with the hope of supporting winter tourism in the region. Construction of the lodge—a 56-foot-long arc with ice walls—began approximately two weeks ago inside a Flin Flon campground. It is expected to open early in the new year."
Great idea. They have lots of these at the Carnival du Quebec. Lake Louse has an ice carving festival in January.

Good luck. Flin Flon is not Quebec City or Lake Louise, sadly I lived there for 2 years.
ReplyDeleteIt's got the temperature for it. The thing that I like about Manitoba is that is has a lot of really big lakes. That means lots of outdoor ice skating in the winter.
DeleteIt is really cold to skate on most of those lakes. Manitoba gets a lot of wind in the winter. Windchill minus 40 - 50. Don't see alot of skaters, you see a lot of fishers huddled in their fish huts with a big fire
ReplyDeleteOh. That's cold. I bet it's nice in summer.
