A known offender and violent individual involved in his father Ken's action and subsequent murder of a crack addict who allegedly owed him money, he was in the middle of a domestic dispute in the parking lot of a pub when a concerned 59 year old man tried to intervene. One punch ended his life. He was declared brain dead.
As a former addict myself I hope he doesn't get off. Although I never committed a crime, it is a desperate lifestyle and shouldn't I be a defence or excuse from the realities and consequences of ones actions.Sparklehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00907966291433240919noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6576246045591350665.post-59105560869134952252012-10-15T11:53:43.170-07:002012-10-15T11:53:43.170-07:00And now Ken's son Greg is in police custody. She got a note under her door saying she was dead and her dog dead if she didn't move house like, right NOW. It's the RS or someone; who knows?

That's what it's like; living right here right now.freddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00874780016491360565noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6576246045591350665.post-89047368966572104022011-09-07T20:55:22.598-07:002011-09-07T20:55:22.598-07:00Genesis 9:5-6

If the crack dealer did pull a gun on him and if the crack dealer then pulled a knife on him and if the crack dealer did indeed keep coming at him, then beating him to death would indeed be self defense. I’m just leery of people taking that case as a get out of jail free card to start taking the law into their own hands.

I agree the gang member in Surrey who shot the punk vandalizing his car was effective but I would say it was excessive and I wouldn’t condone it. He could have just put one in his leg as a warning first. Yes Block watch has been around a long time but how many people actually utilize it? I have seen communities in many high crime areas pull together and by being vigilant in reporting crime and observing suspicious behavior, successfully transformed their communities. East 42nd street Time square is a prime example. That case wasn’t necessarily the community but that model was based on enforcement not enabling.

I think we have unalienable rights in Canada too. Freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to lawful assembly, equal protection of the law. I think most of these rights are entrenched in the natural justice found in the existing common law. I will agree the US Constitution is a great model to bind the government to support those unalienable rights. Yet we have seen how even in the US of A, their wonderful constitution can be a thing of not unless the people are willing to defend it. Martin Luther King’s dream was that the constitution would be more than just a nice piece of paper hanging on the wall. His dream was that the constitution would actually be implemented and his activism was instrumental in seeing that dream become a reality.

My concern with the shoot first ask questions later philosophy is what if the gang member shot the wrong kid? What if it was someone else in the group vandalizing cars and someone just said it was him. That’s the whole point of due process. Don’t get me wrong, I like a pump action 12 gauge as much as the next guy. However, there is a time and place for everything. Right now I’m going to give due process and democracy it’s chance. Right now I support the Martin Luther King model. The day may come when I will indeed take up arms and support the Malcolm X model. It’s just that that day has not yet come. Time will tell but we owe it to ourselves, to our children and to democracy itself to give due process it’s chance. We might not like where the other road ends up taking us.Dennis Watsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06736981069304416233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6576246045591350665.post-88096432208923360622011-09-05T14:51:03.942-07:002011-09-05T14:51:03.942-07:00This guy's getting *off* is not *bizarre*, Age...This guy's getting *off* is not *bizarre*, Agent K. It was the considered verdict of a Judge, with all the evidence before her. It was the right verdict, and I don't have to look behind me to know that most BC'ers agree with me.

When a bunch of vicious vandals in Surrey were wrecking expensive cars here, a wang-ster shot one dead. All sorts of ridiculous blather from politically-correct types ensued, but from reading the extensive story comments, I can say that, just as I think, everyone felt that vandal had it coming, I DON'T care the bastard got shot. We are so under it here, at the mercy of the gangs, that ANYTHING that smacks of real justice is applauded; it's a symptom of our sorry times.

As with Brotherstone, people just have to fight back and Block Watch is NOT doing it, that program's been around for years; and during it we've had the huge Gang wars. How does it help? Trailrunner78's comments to Buziak states the only way. You're just too much of a wimp here, Agent K. Remember why the original movie, "Walking Tall," was called that?

We are used to being no more than *subjects* of the Crown Colonial Government, it's our current-day mind-set too, not the US's concept of a *free* individual with in-alienable rights. There are NO such rights under British Admin. There is no concept of an empowered citizenry here. It's our history and will never change. As a result, the only forlorn hope is a total re-organization of the whole Justice system, Crown, Police, Courts, the works.

Meanwhile, my only hope is my own willingness to arm myself & defend myself. Winchester Defender, here I come. I've shopped around; its only $395 away from me now. Take a look;

http://tinyurl.com/3m2woxwfreddyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00874780016491360565noreply@blogger.com
