A murder is set free and we are all diminished. This is not only a sad day for Canada it is a sad day for humanity. What does it mean to be human? Are we really different than the animals? Are we evolving to something higher or are we devolving into something much worse?
Katherine Quin orchestrated the murder of Mathew Martins from start to finish. She should have received a longer sentence than Forslund. Instead Quin won an obscene appeal and we are left to hang our heads in shame. The evil we do follows us.
This decision left me absolutely stunned. I can not comprehend, based on the evidence, how the judge could let Quinn just walk away. As you say, a young man would be alive today but for her actions that night. How some BC judges interpret laws in the recent past have left a lot to be desired (understatement). How disturbing is it for Martins' family that they could see her around or run into her knowing she is a free woman (if she still lives in the same neighbourhood). Sickening.
