Mother Teresa served the poor
Mother Teresa was a shining example of Christian service. She definitely walked the walk she didn't just talk the talk. I remember reading a book by Mother Teresa that talked about some of her experiences serving the poor. She recounted one experience in a desperately poor area of India. She gave a cup full of rice to a Hindu mother who instantly took half of it and gave it to her neighbor who was a Muslim mother. Mother Teresa talked about the event because at the time Hindus and Muslims didn't get along very well in that area. This destitute mother didn't care. She simply said she's hungry too. That is what the apostle Paul described as pure religion. Christ taught about love and service. That is what his message is all about. All this obsession with the one true religion completely misses the point. Christ said by this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. John said he who knoweth not love knoweth not God for God is love.
In addition to the parable of the good Samaritan, Christ also taught the parable of the sheep and goats in Matthew 25:31-46. In that parable Christ summed up the final judgement. It didn't have anything about church attendance in it. He said I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink. I was a stranger and you took me not in. Naked and you clothed me not, sick and in prison and you visited me not. Then they asked him when did we see you sick or in prison and did not administer unto you? Christ responded when ye did it not unto one of the least of these my bretheren ye did it not unto me. Today Christ is referring to the Syrian refuges. Christ said blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Mother Teresa challenged us to see the face of God in those who suffer. People who can see the face of Christ in the Syrian refuges and all those who suffer have a pure heart. Peace.
gee some one ought to send this to Christy Clark. she of the wonderful Christmas cards where they say Merry Christmas in her home.
ReplyDeleteYou do wonder why some of these good Christians keep voting in people who keep children living in such poverty in this province. It not only says a whole lot about the politicians but the people who keep them in office.
There has been no raise since 2007 for people on welfare and disability and now every one is running around fund raising for kids Christmas. Gee did anyone ever ask how these kids got so poor? Christy keeps saying the province doesn't have the money but if you check out Norm Farrell's blog, In Sight you will see where all the money went. Then you'll see B.C. does have the money, Christy and the B.C. Lieberals just like giving it to friends and big business.
Yes the level of hypocrisy is somewhat astounding.
