Canadian prime minister brings Trudeaumania to White House
The Canadian Press is reporting that "Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau brought Trudeaumania to America on Thursday and the verdict was a resounding thumbs-up. 'Breath of fresh air', 'impressive' and 'very impressive' was how some of the guests at a splashy White House state dinner in Canada's honor described the country's new leader."
American media called it a family reunion. The last time a Canadian Prime Minister attended a State dinner at the Whitehouse was 19 years ago when his father went. Like his father before him, Justin has class. When asked to denounce Donald Trump he said: "I'm not going to pick a fight with Donald Trump right now. I'm not going to support him either, obviously." He said he's anxious to see how the country "deals with what is obviously a very real set of issues around frustration towards the body politic that we've seen in various iterations around the world."
"Trudeaumania"?? Seriously? I'll bet you 9 out of 10 people in the USA have absolutely no idea who he is, any more than 9 out of 10 knew who his father was back in the day, and that 1 out of 10 only knew who PET was because his wife was very publicly cheating on him with Ted Kennedy, 2 out of 4 Rolling Stones, and getting busted for drugs.
ReplyDeleteThe fact of the matter is that the average American knows nothing about Canada other than that it's up north somewhere. Pretty pathetic, but it's the truth.
Actually I am. The fact remains this is the first time in 19 years a Canadian Prime Minister has attended one of these White House dinners. Although you're quite right in that 9 out of 10 Americans don't give a rat's ass about the Canadian PM, this is the first time in who knows how long a visit from a Canadian PM is making the news in the US. That's fairly significant. Obama even cited in a press conference about how some Americans are saying on social media if a certain candidate gets elected, they'e moving to Canada. Perhaps that helped increase the interest in what the Canadian PM had to say.
DeleteIt's not that they don't give a rat's ass, it's just that they don't know. It's the ignorance thing.
ReplyDeleteMaking the news really doesn't mean much, especially with the current electoral fervor, anyone who noticed will forget about it shortly with manufactured issues closer to home pounding out of the screen 24/7.
And no one listens to Obama much any more either. Not only is he basically a caretaker at this point, he has said so much stuff over the years about what he was going to do and delivered little of it (Thank God) that people realize what they should have seen all along, he's just a talker, another race baiting poverty pimp from Chicago where they breed politicians like this. A lot of folks who were stupid enough to vote for him (2x) belatedly realize what an empty shirt he really is.
I thank God too, Obama was not able to do a lot of what he wanted. Simply viewing the Dinesh D'Souza documentary '2016: Obama's America' shows how scary Obama really is - but how he pales in comparison to what Hillary Clinton will do.
ReplyDeleteAs for citizens of the USA and their knowledge of Canada, I remember being in cafe in Montana and the people there, including the staff, kept asking me what it was like "up there" in Canada - we were less than 10 miles from the border.
Endless war and politics, such a shallow society. Gotta distract the sheep in order to fleece them
ReplyDeleteThe Obama deception was tied to the Bush Clinton Fraud. Covering up Operation Fast and Furios was shameful. Yet Operation Fast and Furios was simply a continuation of Operation Wide Receiver which was a continuation of what Bill Clinton and George Bush did in Mena Arkansas. Iran Contra never stopped. That is the root of the problem. Both parties are corrupt.
