Supporting the Falun Gong Protest on Canada Day
I met with some of the Falun Gong Protesters outside the Chinese Consulate in Vancouver today. I just wanted to make sure everyone understood the parameters of the court order. The City made a bylaw saying the protesters couldn't walk away and leave signs up over night. The court order did not say they couldn't stand there with a sign in a peaceful protest. No bylaw could order that because it would violate the Canadian Charter of Rights which is the highest law of the land.
I realized these kind and polite people were being bullied so I met with them and said it's OK, you can stand under my umbrella. Combining the symbolism from the Umbrella Revolution in Hong Kong with the Rihanna and Jay Z song Under my Umbrella. Rihanna shed some tears in Dublin.
Today the Finian Commission launched a new campaign spotlighting Communist China. I did an interview explaining the campaign with the Epoch Times and a Chinese television station. The bottom line is that these people are being persecuted in China. The government of China says they're a cult so they deserve it. That is ridiculous.
Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is a new form of Buddhism that believes in cultivating three Chinese virtues: Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance). There is nothing bad or cultlike in that. Christianity is widely accepted around the world and when Christ was on the earth they said he was leading a cult. He said if they have called the Master of the house Beelzebub, how much more so shall they call them of his household.
So just what is Falun Gong's crime? They like to meditate. I kid you not. Their campaign is simple. At www.free2meditate.org they state "Today in China, people who practice Falun Dafa face imprisonment, torture, or even death. If you think anyone should be free to meditate without fear of persecution, post your support to Facebook, Twitter, or any social media." They sugest posting a picture of you meditating on their Twitter account.
I remember during the Vancouver Occupy demonstration there was a group of peaceful protesters that were simply sitting there meditating. It is impossible for us to conceive how that could possibly be banned. A few years ago as I was on my way home from a TELUS demonstration in Burnaby, I saw a group of quite, polite Asians standing with signs. No one was paying any attention to them so I pulled over to have a look at what their signs said. I was shocked. They were listing numerous atrocities the Communist government has done in China. It was so sad no one was paying any attention to these kind polite people. Their concerns were very real. That's how I found out about the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party in the Epoch Times.
Today they have a new serious complaint. They claim that political prisoners under the Communist government are being tortured and even murdered for organ harvesting. This is a serious issue that needs to be addressed. The Finian Commission will be conducting a public inquiry into the matter. This is a copy of the initial report. The protesters are outside the Vancouver Consulate on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 1:30 PM and 3:30 PM. Hear them.
Epoch Times: Up to 1.5 Million Killed by Chinese Regime for Their Organs, Report Reveals
The Goddess of Democracy statue was first erected during the Tiananmen square protest.
UBC’s statue outside the SUB, the Goddess of Democracy, was holding an umbrella durring the Hong Kong protest in support of that cause. Cantonese is spoken in Hong Kong. Mainland China is trying to kill the language and replace it with Mandarin. Hong Kong may never gain their independence but they should be able to speak whatever language they choose.
China has a problem with overpopulation. Instead of forcing people to have abortions or executing prisoners of conscience, maybe they should just let people move? Maybe that would be a more peaceful solution to their problem. Every major city in the world has a Chinatown. Chinese culture is already influencing the entire world and that is a good thing. Diversity is the spice of life. If you only let families have one child and everyone has abortions if they have a girl, in one generation, who on earth are your men going to marry? It's not a very smart policy . Peace.

There may be many on here who do not understand why the Chinese government would target a group like this.
ReplyDeleteThe documentary 'The Bloody History of Communism' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pzMHD0F4yQ) will help explain the government targets all religion - more so with this group, perhaps, because there is no international support; unlike the Catholic Church in China whose oppression is still as real and present, but in very different ways.
Thanks for the link. Just as the oppression of one group leads to the oppression of another, so too does the liberty of one group lead to the liberty of another. Cheers.
DeleteNo sir, you are. And you're an idiot. Anyone who supports organ harvesting of political prisoners has lost their moral compass.
DeleteI do not know the actual validity of your comment about the oppression of one actually leading to the oppression of another in a proven historical, but it is a popular statement.
ReplyDeleteThe last 1/3 to 1/4 of the documentary explores China specifically and the ideology of how little value is placed upon an human life. It gives great insight into the mindset of those who believe that humans are no better than animals and if you can use parts of one animal then you can use parts of another animal.
It also, perhaps most importantly, explores where and how this belief came into being.
I didn't realize it was a popular saying. I just made it up based on Pastor Martin Niemöller's poem about his experience in Germany:
DeleteFirst they came for the Communists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Communist
Then they came for the Socialists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Socialist
Then they came for the trade unionists
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a trade unionist
Then they came for the Jews
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a Jew
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_they_came_...
Then they came for me
DeleteThen they came for me
and after I shot the first few
the rest remembered
an urgent appointment elsewhere.
Now that version has a happy ending :)
DeleteConsider the social pressures involved when you have 20 million men who have NO CHANCE to ever marry or have a family due to this imbalance. China basically has that many men who are disposable, they can afford to lose them on the battlefield, and IIRC such imbalances have led to rampant criminality, violence, and other problems previously in China's history.
ReplyDeleteNo doubt logic would declare performing abortions on all the girls would quickly create a colossal imbalance in men to women. Like I said, it's not a very smart policy not to mention inhumane.
DeleteThe Communist Government of China isn't about being humane, its about staying in control. To ensure they stay in control they set out to wipe out any group which may offer them competition, and that includes the F.G.
ReplyDeleteNeither the Communist Government of China nor the Red Army of China set any special value on human life. to threaten anyone and everyone continues to ensure their hold on power.
And with that cute and adorable group good old dear leader stevie, signed a 31 year trade deal. Makes you wonder about him. But then he belongs to a religion which believes "the end of times is imminent", so why should he care.
What we do not want is any of these people in our country. they don't value human life so why would they value the life of Canadians any more than their own citizens. We ought to remember, they have started their invasion of Canada, the trade deal and the purchase of as much land as they can get in our country. At this rate we will be renters in our own land within 10 years. Wonder how much farm land they have purchased in PEI and elsewhere?
Canadians ought to try and support the F.G. as much as possible by joining them at protests and continuing to write letters to the Canadian and communist Chinese governments to let them know, we are not o.k. with all of this.
What we might want to give consideration to is when the Communist Chinese corporations start bringing in their own "security people" to "protect" their interests. Yes, under these trade deals it is possible to bring in their own people, when they deem it necessary and the Canadian government doesn't have any say about it. Think it can't happen? Well try to remember the Communist government of China has kidnapped people out of Hong kong they didn't like.
Harper's over reaching trade agreement with Communist China is indeed a huge concern. State owned corporations having their own police forces crushing civl liberty is bizarre. However saying we don't want any of "these people" in Canada is a huge leap. The people of China are good. Chinese Canadians are good. These security people for the state owned corporations are not. They are the ones we should be concerned about.
Deletewhen I refer to "those/these" people I'm referring to the Communist Party of China, Red Army of China, the corporate elite of China who walk hand in hand with them. I am not referring to the average citizens of China, who I'd welcome to immigrate here. When it comes to immigration from China, the average person has much to contribute to Canada. What we don't need is more 1%ers who buy up neighbourhoods, don't live here, don't contribute, etc.
DeleteI see. That makes much more sense. Thanks for the clarification.
DeleteI read some of the links u provided . If any of this is true .. it is almost certainly happening here as well wouldn't u think .
ReplyDeleteIt certainly opens Pandora's box. With the missing women's inquiry there are also a lot of missing men as well. There has been speculation that some of these people go missing for organ harvesting. The fact that they are doing this on such a huge scale in China makes it possible that the same thing might be done elsewhere on the black market.
DeleteHarvesting of organs for transplant needs to be done in a very timely manner. For that you need doctors or someone trained and you need very trained doctors to implant. So they would need jets standing by, and medical facilities etc.
ReplyDeleteFair enuff I agree it is a stretch . However I read the info Dennis linked to. Says around 1.5 million killed maybe as many as 2.5 million killed for one organ each . . With the relationship between bc and China being what it has been for 30 or so yrs . I find it hard to believe this issue hasn't touched Vancouver
DeleteAlso to be fair . If it were my loved one dying . I would pay dearly to save them . I would not kill to save them . However if it was sold to u blind ... I'm sure a few ppl would look the other way so to speak . This is all terrifying
DeleteJessing Flemming makes some good points. Where do your ethics go when its your family member who needs the transplant? do you stay within your own ethical system, or are you willing to go to a third world country and buy one or to China, where some one might have been executed for your loved one to have the transplant.
ReplyDeleteHaving ethics is one thing. Having them tested is quite another.
