The Bleeding Edge - Update
The Vancouver Province is reporting that "Chinese-born Canadian actress Anastasia Lin will be presenting the Vancouver-made film The Bleeding Edge at the British Parliament in September. The Bleeding Edge is a thriller about forced human organ harvesting in China directed by Peabody Award winner Leon Lee. Lin plays the role of a Falun Gong practitioner who is jailed and tortured in a Chinese labour camp. The film earned Lin a Leo for Best Lead Performance by a Female earlier this year." This is happening now not 500 years ago.
“The film tells the incredible story of the victims of human rights abuse in China … who revealed the most profound vulnerability and courage that human beings can possess,” Lin said in a press release. “Everyone involved … has taken a personal risk to create this film. This screening will hopefully bring awareness to the issue of forced organ harvesting in China which deserves urgent attention from the international community.”
Tuidang.org is reporting that "A new independent film from award-winning director Leon Lee could be one of the most important movies you’ll see this year. The Bleeding Edge is a deeply emotional and powerful film that borders somewhere between a thriller and a piece of investigative journalism. It’s a film about one of the most brutal human rights abuses taking place in the world today: the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. And it’s also a film about responsible business practices, in a world where technology giants hold our security and privacy in the palms of their hands."
Update: The Canadian Press is reporting that "Justin Trudeau has officially submitted Canada's application to join a controversial new international infrastructure bank led by China." God help us. Justin Trudeau won't.
The Chinese government is NOT going to be happy about this.....too bad!
ReplyDeleteGee...I wonder if Chuck Chiang, Mainland Chinese cheerleader-in-residence columnist with The Vancouver Sun, will report on this film...oh yeah, he writes only about the POSITIVE aspects of China and its' Vancouver "New Canadians". Normally, if both aspects constituted a book, it would be the slimmest volume in the VPL.
ReplyDeleteLooks like the Vancouver Sun ran this article as well twice:

However, all the local media outlets have been avoiding this topic. This article in the Province was buried the paper while once again front page news was about a dead dog.
To be fair here, the Chinese Communist government has DECADES worth of practice at doing what it does. Government friendly western mouth pieces, whether of Chinese descent or not, are nothing new and are part of the over all plan to weaken the West and grow China up to where the Chinese believe it belongs in the pantheon of nations: number #1.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is we do not play the long game like they do and unless we counter their moves, we will lose. We can win, but so far we are choosing not to.
must say I agree with Trailrunner78. It would be great if the film was screened here in Canada and the U.S.A. perhaps then people might pressure their governments to deal with the communist government of china and their practices.
ReplyDeletePutin gets treated like a piraha these days, its time china is also. countries should refuse to entertain Chinese officials and we ought not to be sending delegations there. Trudeau ought not to have made this trip to china. by travelling there the government of china is given lots of propaganda material within their country.
That's a good point. Why demonize Putin and kiss China's ass when China is far worse. Likewise why boycott trade with Cuba and roll out the red carpet for China when China's human rights abuses are far worse than Cuba's.
