Global is reporting that "A woman from Manitoba has been identified as the person shot and killed by Calgary police on Christmas day. Family and friends have identified 29-year-old Stacey Perry as the woman killed following what police say was several hours of erratic driving."
Sounds a bit excessive to me. Their story is somewhat questionable.
So did cops in Edmonton and in Saskatchewan as well
ReplyDeleteInteresting. In both of those cases the police claim the suspect had a gun and fired it but no witnesses can collaborate the claim. In London England the police said the same thing and it turned out they were lying. The suspect was unarmed.
DeleteIt seems to be a common excuse. "I thought he had a gun" Well did he or didn't he? If they did have a gun and fire it, then fare enough. If they are lying again, then that needs to be addressed. None of these local gang bangers that shoot each other over drugs ever shoot cops because they know they'll just get a slap on the wrist in court.
Yeah, cops claiming that a suspect had a weapon and fired it but no weapon ever recovered is a big red flag leading right in the direction of "unlawful use of deadly force".......

ReplyDeleteIF she was in a car and was ramming a pedestrian that was pinned then discharging a firearm would be warranted but that is a colossal IF. The story sounds awfully extreme as in difficult to believe.

ReplyDeleteYeah, shooting at someone in a vehicle is a good way to lose your job down here. Still popular and legally accepted up there though. Don't get me wrong, we went through that whole "vehicle is a weapon" thing until cooler heads finally realized the logic was flawed, nowadays as I said, using a firearm against a vehicle can get you terminated depending on agency, and sued no matter which.
The whole "car as a weapon" thing has been used to try and justify some sketchy shoots on both sides of the border. Cops who want to "get some" or are looking to "get their war on" should join the military and choose the "Infantry" option on their contract.
