The Soviet Red Army did not Liberate Eastern Europe

I keep mentioning how much respect I have for Mick Wallace and Clare Daly. There are many things I completely agree with them on. However there are a few things that I definitely don't agree withe them on and this is one of them.

Stalin didn't liberate Eastern Europe, he used the Nazi invasion as an excuse to enslave them. I've talked about how Stalin conned the Polish resistance. Stalin was a very bad man. He killed more people than Hitler. 

That's not to say Hitler was good because he most certainly was not. Hitler was a madman who committed atrocities. It's just that Stalin's death camps were no different than Hitler's death camps. They were the same. 

I've mentioned that when I worked for the Post Office I met many people in the Union who called themselves Communists. One coworker said he thought I was a Communist for the same reason I thought he wasn't. We both believe in democracy and free speech. It took me quite a while to get my brain around that defiant contradiction. 

I came to the conclusion that some people actually believe the idealistic hope of Communism. James Connolly was one only he put his idealism on paper in the 1926 Irish Proclamation protecting civil liberty by law. Most people claim in Communism you have to give up individual rights in support of collective rights. I believe that is a con. You can't have collective rights if you don't have individual rights. 

Mick keeps going on about Western Imperialism and when I see all the Netanyahu and Trump 2.0 atrocities I have to agree. That's exactly what it is but that is the exact opposite of the intent behind the American Revolution and the Declaration of Independence. Realistically, what Netanyahu and Trump 2.0 are doing is Fascism. You can't call what they're doing Capitalism. 

I don't even like the term Capitalism because it often means greed and greed is bad. I prefer the term free market where if someone wants to start a business they can. There's nothing stopping them. My point is when we see people denounce Capitalism and Imperialism, then raise the Red flag of Genocide and Slavery, I say hold the door. 

What Stalin did was not what James Connolly intended in the same way what Trump 2.0 is doing is not what the Founding Fathers intended. Putin raising a white marble statue of Stalin in the Moscow subway station in mentally deranged. 

That is a very bad omen to beware of because history repeats itself until we learn from it. As my Russian neighbour once said, First they give you cake. Then they starve you. After that, you take whatever they give you.
