True North is reporting that "In passing The Saskatchewan First Act earlier this month, Justice Minister Bronwyn Eyre explained in a recent interview how the province is hedging against a potential fertilizer mandate by the federal government.
The Act would reinforce provincial jurisdiction over things like the regulation of fertilizer use in Saskatchewan, including application, production, quantities and emissions.”
This is important because
a fertilizer ban has absolutely nothing to do with protecting the environment. Fertilizer helps plants grow. Plants are green.
Also important because we are a huge potash fertilizer producer, far more than enough for our own use if we didn't ship any out of province.
