David Black and Satan’s Angels
Kim Bolan’s new web site about the Hells Angels is featured on the front page of the printed edition of today’s Vancouver Sun. I’m sure the local boys are thrilled. It even has a picture of Ricky fat ass Ciarniello back when he was still a fat ass but was the treasurer of Satan’s Angels in Vancouver. They patched over to become Hells Angels in 1983. This is a picture of Ricky fat ass and David Black taken in 1977. I want to know why David is holding up a flag with a swastika on it. Surely we can go through the archives and figure that out.
On a forum someone claimed the Vancouver Satan’s Angels kidnapped a 20-year-old man in 1968 and subjected him to a night of torture and terror. It was nicknamed the "case of the devil's butler" because one of the bikers was reported to have commented "now we have a butler" when they first grabbed him in a cafe. Ten members of the club were eventually charged and many, including club president David Black, convicted. Black got seven years.
Turns out a book was written about the event called The Devil’s Butler by Simma Holt which cites court records and police wire taps that were used in court to convict those involved.
Apparently, this book, the Devil’s Butler was very well known at the time and was cited in an Vancouver Sun editorial by Allan Fotheringham June 17 1972. He was referring to the seven men convicted in that case making parole in 1971 and 1972. Turns out, Simma Holt was an MP for Vancouver Kingsway and a credible journalist.
Ernie Ozolins and his girlfriend Lisa Chamberlain were murdered June 02, 1997. The rule says you’re not supposed to kill a patch member. So they kicked him out first. They also stole Ernie’s land from his brother and mother after they killed him. This pdf file talks about the fraud that was committed regarding the lot at 6925 128 Street in Surrey.

You forgot to mention that he (the "butler") was repeatedly sodomized over the course of the weekend by the club members.....so, maybe those six guys up in Prince George are just trying to "represent" that they are worthy of a patch.....or perhaps it's just that scum of a feather ass-rapes together....
ReplyDeleteWhere did you read that??? Is it in an overview of the book?
ReplyDeleteOne of Yves Levigne's books I believe, I don't recall which one.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it say in his book that you get an 8-ball patch for buggering a man in front of the club?
ReplyDeleteYves Levigne's book? Ok can you guys let me know which book it says this stuff in it so I can check it out? That is bizarre. The Book Devil’s Butler was written by Simma Holt who is female.
ReplyDeleteNot sure the title, but it was Yves Lavigne 's, think it was just called Hells Angels. In it, he describes the silly patches members can get. Blue wings for sleeping with a female cop, Yellow wings for sleeping with an Asian, then theres the purple wings for necrophelia, and it gets worse from there. Dont know who much truth there is to it, but it made for a great read. Oh yeah, then there is the 8-ball. You dont wanna shoot pool with the guy wearing that patch.
ReplyDeleteTaking care of business is the book
DeleteThat's bizarre. I've only heard of a red patch.
ReplyDeleteDinkweed is correct about all those other patches, granted that is more of a back in the day thing apparently for HA, but then 1968 qualifies for that. Other clubs still have the types of patches he's talking about even if they have fallen out of favour with Red and White.
ReplyDeleteSorry, should have said 1977.
ReplyDeleteI actually own the book, "the devils butler" everything mentioned in your comments section is accurate plus a broom was used on the main male victim. The book is an absolute gold mine for info.
ReplyDeleteThat’s pretty messed up. So they used a broom stick on him but they didn’t actually sodomize him or did they do both? I’m assuming that was before Ricky C was there but Ricky was definitely involved with David Black after the fact.
DeleteDavid Black was sentenced to 7 years for that offence, according to the book....it went down in 1968...Ron Doxey also mentioned in the book...he became the first HA in BC in 1977. His son was a member of the Empire gang.
DeleteYes sodomized with a broom stick
DeleteThat's not what I mean... did they use anything other than a broom stick as well? I.E. physically rape him with their own bodies. Which Empire gang? The recent Surrey car thieves or some other group?
DeleteOne of my female friends is friends with a woman who was *in the house* when Ozolins was hit. I guess that's maybe not true, as one woman was also shot, no...?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, the word is he got shot for severe cocaine addiction. All their product went into him...
Ernie’s girlfriend was executed with him. I don’t believe that excuse though. That’s something they just spread around after the fact. Like saying someone was a rat when they weren’t. It’s just too convenient. They stole his family property as well.
DeleteEmpire Gang Ref: http://thedirty.com/2011/01/washed-up-wannabe/ read thru the comments to get the info
ReplyDeleteThe Devil's Butler referred to VPD Police File 68-10879 Feb 22, 1968. Members of SA would abduct teenagers off the streets and force them into sexual slavery and acts of cruelty. The following occurred:
-Lit plastic bottles with flame letting the melted plastic drop on the kneeling victim's back
-Brutally beaten by the gang
-Forced stripping
-inserted broom stick into rectum, and then into his mouth
-pushed into a bathtub with ice water
-ordered to scrub the clubhouse floor while naked on all fours
Pretty disturbing that some of the bikers today were the protege's of this crew.
The book outs thwe following biker members: Dave Black, Herb Spivey, Robert Pearson, Robert James, Victor Gregory, Charles Dumont. At the time, according to the book, BC assigned one investigator to monitor the bikers, a VPD Sgt named John Finnie.
Empire gang: OK so it's the same Surrey losers I was thinking about. I suppose it's not surprising to hear that someone convicted of kidnapping and torturing a guy in the /60's had a son who later became a member of the empire gang. Sounds like a cycle of disturbing behaviour. The police file on the devils butler mentions more than one victim? Kinda disturbing to hear Ricky C was involved so closely with those guys. Makes ya wonder about the Pickton farm.
ReplyDeleteYes, according to the book, the file pertained to many victims (male & female), but the book's focus was one main male victim. In my opinion, DOXEY (Ricky C's buddy and retired HA) would have been in on the cruelty too, but he was already serving 18 mos prison for another unrelated assault (according to the Sun).
ReplyDeleteIncredibly eye opening read, yet disturbingly sad that behaviour of this fashion has not evolved. The only thing that has evolved is the PR attempts of bikers to polish their image as "good ol boys". You can cut their hair, dress them up, roid them up, and make them smell good, but they're still rotten to their core.
Many BC'ers think that we had a biker problem circa 1983 (HA Patch over), when in reality our Lower Mainland has had outlaw biker entrenchment for over 45 years!
And yes, it makes you wonder about piggy and a whole bunch of things!
Many victims both male and female? That is something I'm definitely going to have to look into. You nailed it about the PR thing. This was really big news at the time. Local editorials were talking about that book. For all that to be swept under the carpet and for them to pull the we're just nice guys who ride motorcycles is really offensive. Astounding that the head of that PR campaign was one who associated with those same people that tortured many victims. Piggy Palace just looks like more of the same.
DeleteHey, if Ricky C was 61 last year then he was born in 1951. That means when the kidnapping took place he was 17 years old. Ya think he was a hang around then? In 1977 he was their Treasurer at age 26.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I have no proof to support it, your statement would not surprise me at all, especially since Ricky C has been entrenched with them for so long....like many of his generation, stay with one job until you retire, and likely brought in to the business because of a father figure or mentor....but what do I know ;p
ReplyDeletePossible indeed. People are allowed to express opinions. Then again they might have made him treasurer at such a young age because he was the only one with grade ten math.
DeleteMore on Satan's Angels here:
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.alexwaterhousehayward.com/2007/11/bikers-ball-in-boston-bar.html
Evidently Satan's Angels had rings like the Rock Machine.
DeleteInterestingly enough, the Sun reported for that police file, that a 17 year old male suspect associate of the SA, who could not be identified, was "handed over to authorities" hmmmmmmmm
ReplyDeleteOK that is worth looking into. That was before the Young Offenders Act. We're gonna have to check to see what kind of young offenders legislation they had back then and see if it included publication bans on names of young offenders. If it doesn't, we need to check the name of that 17 year old.
Delete"Piggy Palace just looks like more of the same."
ReplyDeleteExcept that they "learned their lesson" from the previous episodes and made sure to dispose of the victims.
"Dead men (and women) tell no tales".......
These people aren't human beings. They're predatory vermin who should be exterminated for public health reasons if nothing else.
What is this BS with not being able to identify people under 18 anyway? More politically correct nanny state garbage, we all know there are numerous people under that age who are a threat to public safety and NEED to be identified. I find this desire on the part of the state to protect underage criminals from public knowledge of their identities to be suspicious. Victims? Sure. Perpetrators, not so much.
ReplyDeleteIt's called the Young Offenders act which was replaced by the Youth Criminal Justice Act. I'm just trying to cover my ass. I want to operate within the parameters of the law. The hated young Offenders Act didn't come into effect until 1984. That makes me wonder what legislation said about publishing young offenders names prior to that. I'd like to find out if that 17 year old kid involved with the Devil's butler case was Ricky C or not.
DeleteProtocols changed for E-Pandora....?
ReplyDelete"B.C. Supreme Court Justice Victor Curtis commented on the dilemma in his watershed ruling upholding the police tactics in E-Pandora."
“Large quantities of drugs were released into the community – drugs which could cause death or serious injury in their consumption and trafficking,” Curtis said."
“However, significant quantities of drugs were removed from the community during the investigation and it would appear that the investigation, by reasonable inference, has seriously disrupted and prevented the distribution of much larger quantities of drugs.”

Isn't that new; the Cops can let the kilos hit the street if necessary, could be hot heroin, & kill someone...
Also; at least the civilian, but I've heard undercover RCMP too, can do drugs, while as committing other illegal acts...
That happened in EPandora? I'm shocked. That's something the CIA does on a regular basis. Only unlike in EPandora, they don't make any busts at all, just profit. I was under the impression an under cover RCMP officer can do drugs. I was shocked to hear the US Agent that infiltrated the Hells Angels in Black Biscuit said they weren't allowed to do drugs. Kinda hard for an under cover agent to be believed. He told a story of pretending to do a line of coke and just swept it off the table into his hand when he pretended to snort it.
DeleteALL these guys who have infiltrated biker gangs have an interesting story where they "pretended" to do drugs, did something clever, and no one noticed.......not sure if I believe it. At the same time, I think that is best left alone, I don't see a good answer to the dilemma and UC faces at such a moment. It's his life on the line, I say leave it to him whatever he chooses to do. Some things you have to be a realist about, and you can't expect an UC to be accepted by such people and still remain non-participatory. If it's a criminal act that is going forward whether they play along or not I don't see the problem, we offer immunity to actual criminals who've done murders in exchange for their testimony. I'd say the line needs to be drawn at murder though, especially if it's of an innocent. If it's killing a patch or an associated/rival drug dealer though, personally I'd be good with that. Not much doubt that the UC would be accepted after spattering someone's brains on the wall behind them. Imagine the hubbub when it comes out someday that the guy is a cop, absolute consternation on the part of the bad guys. "Wow, the cops are allowed to just cap us, no problem. Time to look for a new line of work".....
DeleteI go along with you on the wire taps all in 1967 and they did not use plastic bottles the Butler was burned from a kids plastic fire hat and a bamboo can
