The Surrey Now Leader is reporting that Steven Pettigrew has left the Safe Surrey Coalition. Oh Happy Day. I told you that guy was a wing nut. That is why I did not endorse him. He single handedly sabotaged the Hawthorne Park campaign. He was an agent provocateur. Either that or he was just plain stupid. His departure from the SSC had nothing to do with saving any trees.
Loser Steve says “I’m not mad at them, and I’m not even mad at the mayor,” he said. “Everybody has a right to vote the way they want and as we go forward I’ll just continue to work with them. Sometimes I’ll agree, most of the time I stand by myself. What’s the worst that can happen? I stand by myself. It’s already happened, right. You’ve seen council right, it’s usually eight to one, vote after vote after vote after vote.” Yeah why is that?
Doug McCallum explained “I am not surprised by Steven’s decision to split from the Safe Surrey Coalition,” McCallum stated. “What I find disappointing is his treatment of the voters who cast a ballot for him as a member of the Safe Surrey Coalition. We were very open, transparent and specific of what we stood for and intended to do if elected. Steven was fully aware of Safe Surrey’s platform and was more than happy to run an entire campaign with us. Since he’s been elected to council, he has conveniently forgotten the platform and the promises we made to the people of Surrey.” No kidding. Doug McCallum was very clear on his mandate to get rid of the LRT and the RCMP. Steve exploited McCallum's name and budget to get elected. As I said, he totally screwed up the Save Hawthorne park campaign. I was there. I saw it.
Do you guys have the potential or a provision for a recall/removal from office? On another note, wow, what a face.....I'll bet he's been trying to compensate for it all his worthless life.....
ReplyDeleteYeah he's very eccentric. There's no need for a recall. There's no way he'll get reelected as an independent. Natural Justice will prevail.
DeleteB.C. municipal election systems do not provide for recall. B.C. does have a recall system in place for M.L.A.s However, the process does not favour the people wishing to do the recalling and no group has ever made the thresh hold. we have however, managed on occasion to have enough signatures for a referendum.
ReplyDeleteIf you sign on for the "ticket", the honourable thing to do is to stick with the ticket. Even M.L.A.s and M.P.s who cross the floor, usually have a "reason" and state so publicly before they leave the party. This individual seems to just vote against what the party he ran with does. Not good business practice
Steve leaving the party is a step forward for everyone.
