Surrey Civic election Saturday October 17 2026

Civic elections in BC will be on October 17th 2026. That means, Surrey, Vancouver and everywhere else for mayors and city councils. Several years ago Surrey had a political party called Surrey First run by Dianne Watts. We had high hopes and were deeply disappointed. 

Surrey First turned out to be Surrey's worst when it came to fiscal responsibility. Dianne Watts became a Neo Con tax and spend junket queen. They loved spending money and raising taxes. Dianne Watts wanted to toll every bridge under the sun. In contrast, the Tax and Spend NDP eliminated bridge tolls in BC. Dianne Watts promised to be tough on crime and we were deeply disappointed. Her actions completely contradicted her words. 

As a result, every single candidate in that slate were wiped off the map except for one newcomer not tied to the existing party's bad reputation. That was Linda Annis. Now Linda Annis is running for mayor under the Surrey Worst banner. She's trying to bring LRT back. LRT down 104 would have been a literal infrastructure nightmare. Grass roots activists started SkyTrain for Surrey to oppose the insanity. Now they're talking about brining SkyTrain to UBC. That's because SkyTrain doesn't impede traffic. 

Doug McCallum brought SkyTrain to Langley and launched Surrey's own municipal police force. I completely supported him. Brenda Locke won the last election under very suspicious circumstances. A lot of high profile people were running for Mayor in Surrey and she wasn't one of them. She wasn't even in the top five. Yet she somehow won that election knowing that she was the only candidate that wanted to revert back to the RCMP which the Wake Up Surrey coalition passionately opposed.

Surrey was the largest city in Canada without it's own police force and all the dirty tricks the RCMP used to stay in Surrey was obscene. So here we are. Doug McCallum's back and I completely support him and his Safe Surrey coalition. Surrey Frist is a private company run by Dianne Watts more affectionately known locally as Godzilla. Why we left Surrey First.
