I've posted this before but I'm feeling a Bach cello. Russia slams Odesa with drones. That's not protecting the Donbas. Vancouver is sister cities with Odesa. Odesa is peaceful.
This conflict should have been resolved by now. Putin is getting greedy. RFK said it well, this provoked conflict is about war profiteering. The result is suffering and exploitation while the oligarchs get rich. Putin is taking advantage of that.
Chrystia Freeland is a bad example of Ukrainian heritage. Her grandfather was a literal Nazi and ran a propaganda newspaper for Hitler. So that's a bad example. I'm going to make an observation in the spirit of building bridges.
We recently attended two Ukrainian events in Vancouver as we know and support people in that community. Last night it was a cultural extravaganza in the Ukrainian hall in East Vancouver. We went once previously before the war.
It was nice to see the Ukrainian flag without a swastika on it. From my perspective the Ukrainian community in Vancouver are peaceful people who are desperately trying to cling on to their traditions and heritage which they see as under attack from a foreign enemy. Yet that's not exactly what's happening.
Half the people living in the Ukraine are of Russian ancestors. In the East, Russian Ukrainians are a majority. In the East they are a minority. After the CIA led coup against the Russian resident of the Ukraine, the Donbas objected to the coup. Zelensky hired literal Nazis to bomb the Donbas and beat them into submission. No one did anything to stop them.
We were told the Russian invasion was to protect the citizens in the Donbas from being bombed. Sending drones to bomb Odesa would clearly cross the line. Obviously the war has created a lot of hurt and suffering.
When we attended the Ukrainian events in Vancouver before the war, they had Russian dances and Russian instruments mixed in with the Ukrainian dancers and instruments. They celebrated their cultural diversity together. Last night there were no Russian dancers or instruments.
I can totally understand how the Russian invasion and war has created hard feelings. Yet there seems to be a continued push to get all citizens of Russian heritage to leave and that's not all. Romanians and other minorities appear to be persecuted within Zelenky's Ukraine.
I remember seeing a picture of a Romanian little girl tied to a tree having green dye sprayed on her face.
In 2022 a priest was also sprayed with green dye on his face in Zelensky's West. Purging any country of minorities is never a good thing. It reminds me of the Irish Proclamation.
"The Republic guarantees religious and civil liberty, equal rights and equal opportunities to all its citizens, and declares its resolve to pursue the happiness and prosperity of the whole nation and of all its parts, cherishing all of the children of the nation equally, and oblivious of the differences carefully fostered by an alien Government, which have divided a minority from the majority in the past."
I've been watching the mess in ukraine unfold since 2014 when the massacre at the trade union building happened. I watched a several hour video doc by watchdogmedia called roses have thorns that cast an evil light on ukrainian nationalism and showed in detail not only the Odessa massacre on film but also the murder of police for not stopping the victory day parade by pravvy sektor militants in mariupol. My friends son is ukrainian and faught for the ukro Reich in 2015 during their attempted invasion of the donbass. He has bad ptsd now from the absolute atrocities he witnessed and was thankfully able to get to canada to be with the rest of his family before he was dragged back to the front in 2022. His mom grew up in the soviet era of Ukraine and their whole family loves ukraine but don't like nazis so they left ukraine in the late 2010's. The kids cousin never got out and was recently snatched off the streets of lviv and forced into the military against his will. That whole war is a total mess of lies and corruption. The usa literally overthrew the ukrainian government and handed over leadership to the lesser national socialist party of ukraine aka svoboda party and they literally emptied the prisons into azov and sent them to the front because most of the soldiers they had sent to the donbass surrendered and joined the donbass militias. Anyways im sure you know all this stuff and much more I just read about Odessa and it being a sister city to van so I wanted to say I look forward to Odessa surrendering and becoming part of Russia. After they murdered that lady and her children in the trade union building and then right sektor has had the last 10 years to witch hunt anyone they think is Russian, ukraine lost its right to that beautiful place. Shame on misled canadian and American so called patriots that are over there playing weekend nazi hopefully they all get killed so they don't come back and have our own government use their human safari adventures as an excuse to take away more of our civil rights. Good work on this blog I agree with you almost always over the last several years.
ReplyDeleteI agree the war is a mess. I don't think there is one good guy and one bad guy. Just varying degrees of bad hidden by a whole lot of exploitation. I don't think Odesa surrendering and becoming part of Russia is the answer. That's kind of what I meant when I said Putin is taking advantage of a bad situation for his own personal gain.
DeletePutin isn't a good guy. He's just not wrong all the time. That certainly doesn't mean he's right all the time. This national socialist party sounds an awful lot like fascism. The CIA is the root of this division. It's sad because before the CIA's intervention, Ukrainians of Russian descent and Ukrainian descent used to sing and dance together. I know it's a very simple world view, but just like Gaza, can't we just share the land?
Speaking of no good guys or bad guys, let's not forget that Yo-Yo Ma has a seat on the World Economic Forum Board of Trustees, along with the likes of Chrysta Freeland and a lot of others with a financial interest in Ukraine. He's not exactly a non-interested party in all of this himself.
DeleteI guess you're right about Yo Yo Ma's tied to the WEF. I'll have to quote a different cellist in the future. My point was the music not the Davos Agenda behind it. When I heard he played above the WEF Forum in Davos I assumed he was opposing it not supporting it. That makes Yo Yo Ma a wolf in sheep's clothing.
DeleteAs for the original comment, Russia used to have Stalin. Stalin murdered more of his own people than Hitler did. Does that mean Russia loses the right to their land? I think not. Putin putting a new saute of Stalin up in the Moscow subway is mentally deranged. That has gone way too far. Both extremes are wrong.
DeleteBoth Putin and Zelensky are dictators varying in degree only by level of brutality and length of time in office. The longer you've been around, the more people forget anything but the recent past. Apartment bombings in 1999 anyone?
ReplyDeleteExactly. They're both bad which is going to require an additional blog post. It's like Poland. Screwed over by Hitler and Stalin both. When you say Apartment bombings I assume you're referring to the false flag attacks in Chechnya. As I said, the movie the Nonmember Man with Pierce Brosnan was based on a true story and the CIA were once again at the heart of it:

Yes, that was what I was referring to. There was one in Moscow as well. If it has been just in Chechnya the Russian public would not have cared much.
