I traded Saturday for Monday with a coworker and got a morning pass for Alouette Lake at Golden Ears today. We took the kayaks out for a test drive. First time this season. Lots of padleboards out there now. Another lake created from a Dam. Clean energy that makes sense.
Looks choppy + deep.
ReplyDeleteAt 522 ft. - it's considered very deep for a lake.
It wasn't choppy but but it was a bit choppy on the way back. The wind often picks up in the afternoon so you're paddling into the wind and waves. I rented a canoe there when my kids were very young and the wind kept blowing the bow of the canoe making it very difficult to paddle straight. It's better on a kayak. Harrison lake is very deep so I'm told.

Yes, on a kayak it's fine. When I went with my kids in a canoe when they were very young I was a novice. My daughter sat beside me in the back and my son who was even younger sat in the front. That means we were very light in the front of the Canoe and the wind kept blowing us off course. Now I understand you need weight in the front to balance it out. When I rented a canoe on the Bowron lake the guy lent me giant stone to put in front to weigh it down so I could paddle solo easier.
