Fatal shooting in Scarborough gun battle

Update: The female fatality was Sarah Prehay, 23, of Toronto.

CP24 is reporting that "Two people are dead and two others suffered serious injuries following a shooting that police have described as a gun battle outside a plaza in Scarborough early Wednesday morning. Shots rang out in the parking lot of a plaza in the area of Ellesmere Road and Oakley Boulevard, near Midland Avenue, shortly after 2:30 a.m. Speaking to reporters at the scene on Wednesday, Det. Rod Benson said a significant number of shots were fired during what appears to be an exchange of gunfire." Police said over 50 rounds were fired.

"One male was pronounced dead at the scene and a female later died in hospital. Two other males were transported to a trauma centre to be treated for serious injuries."

Braydon McCann, 22 was the male killed. The Toronto Star is reporting that "Braydon, the youngest of five kids, had turned 22 on Monday and lived at home with his mother near where the shooting occurred, said McCann, who works in construction and lives in Bowmanville."

Justin Trudeau's handgun freeze has obviously not reduced gun violence because criminals don't use lawfully obtained firearms.

  1. They know that criminals don't obey gun laws. They really do. It's not much of a mystery. The takeaway from that is of course that gun control laws are for use against law abiding citizens. If they could get away with seizing them all, they would.

  2. All the handgun freeze did was make the price of street guns go up, putting more money into the pockets of criminal elements. I’ve heard of illegal hand guns that were $2-3,000 prior are now selling for $5-7,000.

    1. Selling guns to criminals is no better than selling fentanyl. You do both knowing that you will be responsible for what happens later, but don't care. People of that mentality are an ongoing threat to those around them.

    1. It's one biker club, there is no "more powerful" club

  4. More powerful in Canada but only because of weak laws, and weak judges. Doing large scale dope business with a patch on your back down south, might as well be a bullseye. None of those guys last very long and they get hard time every time. Up here the system is largely either incompetent or compromised, or both. Especially here in BC.

  5. The gun freeze was shady, the guns smuggled over border to Canada and ghost guns weren’t used in statistics only the legal guns Trudeau did that so he was able to take away the citizens firearms he’s pathetic. He’s giving our jobs to non citizens and he’s even letting people who don’t have a citizenship vote he’s even letting them drive using non Canadian lisence there for insurance is void I kno of 3 incidents were only one was compensated thru ICBC insurance. What’s being done is an outrage and he’s spending tax payers money on the homeless junkies that are the crime rate rather than towards seniors, youth programs, veterans or cleaning up the community that’s a mess because of all these tent cities! Flushing tax payers money down the toilet while he’s raising the taxes and cost of groceries and the carbon tax is a complete hoax it’s been proven it’s all just to make up for the CERB he gave out the junkies we’re aloud to double dip and only the law abiding citizens will pay the price. People say trump is bad but trump has done more for his ppl than Trudeau has for Canadians. Hence why his wife left him
