Bringing Kids Play Foundation into Surrey schools

Kal Dosanjh, founder of the Kid's Play Foundation recently did an interview with CBC. Kal knew the 18 year old that was just shot dead in Surrey. I've talked about Kal's group before.

They host soccer tournaments in BC place and street hockey events for kids to play and be kids. They also speak to kids in school. Kal does good work. I mentioned when Stan Price and Shane Knox join Kids Play Foundation

This is the real deal. Former gang members telling kids the truth about gangs. For many years the RCMP in Surrey have been very over protective of that gig. They got paid overtime to speak in schools about gangs and didn't want to share that jurisdiction. They didn't do a very good job either.

Kal's group does a better job and they do it for free. Since the RCMP in Surrey is finally on their way out and since the Surrey Police Department are stretching to take over the last remaining jurisdictions in Surrey, now is the time to bring Kid's Play into Surrey schools. That would be in everyone's best interest.

Politicians used the recent Surrey shootings to get some dramatic headlines but those are slime balls with an agenda. Kal Dosanjh is a good man who does good work without the politics. Let's take the next step. Let's put Kids Play in Surrey schools. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

    1. Yeah. He left the life and is a really good guy. That makes him far more qualified to talk to kids about gangs than a RCMP officer on overtime or Blaze the meth head.

  2. Dennis, you've nailed it. Former gang members like Kal Dosanjh offer a unique perspective on the harsh realities of gang life. It's fantastic to see Kal and others like him turning their lives around. In contrast, RCMP officers often struggle to resonate with young people and effectively convey the risks associated with gang involvement. The issue is further complicated by local politicians who prioritize headlines over meaningful action.

    1. Actually Kal Dosanjh is a good cop that has former gang members on his team. When they speak, kids listen. Years ago I remember one young man tell me the RCMP came to his high school in Surrey to issue a warning about gangs. The cops daughter went to that school and the young man's step Dad was a member.

They were showing all these pictures in the gym of gang members and said if you associate with any of these gang members, you could be killed. The young man stood up and said I know every single one of those people in that slide show. What gives you the right and walked out. Kal's team approaches it very differently.
