CTV is reporting that "The RCMP’s commanding officer in British Columbia has been relieved of his duties after allegations dating back several years recently came to light, the force announced Thursday. Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald was stripped of his role after the Mounties learned of the allegations, which spanned a period from 2016 to 2018, according to a statement from RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme."
Bullsh*t. That was when he was Surrey Police Chief. If he was accused of sexual harassment he would have been promoted like Bill Fordy. Dwayne McDonald was a rock star assisting the OMGU in Kelowna who took down David Giles aka Skellator. Then he came to Surrey and dropped the ball because he was a company man. He did what they wanted him to. Or didn't do.
If they fired him now it could only be because he grew a pair and started addressing organized crime. Something the RCMP doesn't want done.
Sounds like he wouldn't convert from the traditional KILT to the anti bully bright pink ones

ReplyDeleteThe RCMP should have been kicked out of Surrey a long time ago. All there’s left for them is Guildford and Fleetwood. So why the holdup? Unfortunately, the extortion crisis affected the transition because 40 SPS officers were redeployed to an extortion task force led by the RCMP. Chief Norm Lipinski said SPS had to redeploy more than 40 officers into specialized extortion investigations. That reduced the number of officers available for the transition and contributed to SPS asking to delay the Cloverdale takeover.

ReplyDeleteI sure did when they gave me a ticket for driving over a yellow island to make a left turn right beside where they smoke crystal meth in public. I made a formal complaint about the meth smoking right beside that last RCMP office. Good riddance to the Surrey RCMP. They give the outfit a bad name.
DeleteI've noticed that the area around the superstore has a meth smoking problem, which I believe is connected to the nearby homeless shelter. When I contacted the RCMP to file a complaint, I was disappointed by the call taker's lack of knowledge. They seemed unsure of how to handle my report, and when I pointed out that public opioid use is against the law, they were unable to provide a straightforward answer. What does that tell you when you confront an institution like the RCMP about laws not being enforced yet they can’t even answer a simple yes or no question?

Delete5:28 Oh they know about it. It's right behind their last community police station in Surrey. Yes it is directly tied to that assisted living facility. I filed the same complaint and ended up getting in a pissing match with them over the phone. That's why I say it's time for them to go. However, when I filed that same complaint with Norm Lipinski, he had someone experienced call me and we had a very long positive conversation about it. Right now that's RCMP jurisdiction but we talked about the problem and agreed on proactive solutions.

DeleteI have a very low opinion of the RCMP. They’re in it for the money. Eventually, they’ll be long gone and we will never have to put up with their shenanigans again. As for the methheads and crackheads, nope. There is no sympathy for these losers on my end. They chose to do what they’re doing. I didn’t tell them to go take drugs, neither did you. Nobody told them to go be a washed up drug addict. They did this to themselves. Life is what you make of it. Take responsibilities, get off the drugs and grow up. Clean up your act. DeleteThe RCMP's prolonged presence in Surrey is nothing short of ridiculous. Despite the Surrey Police Service's estimated completion date of 2027, there's no clear timeline for the transition. It's likely that political agendas are at play, with the RCMP attempting to reassert its jurisdiction. This political maneuvering is hindering the SPS’s ability to do its job. Norm Lipinski's termination has created a void in the SPS, prompting the search for a new leader to fill the position of police chief.
ReplyDeleteBrenda Locke’s behaviour towards Norm was shameful. She needs to go. For these reasons, I’m voting for Doug McCallum. He is an ideal seasoned candidate for the job. He’s a straightforward leader who will ensure the police transition from goes a lot more smoothly. SPS was off to a rocky start because the old boys club of the RCMP and their union NPF kept throwing up every political roadblock and barrier to keep their contract. I can’t wait to see the looks on the senior RCMP top brass’s faces when Doug wins the election. They’ll probably be crying in their beers, drowning their sorrows at the bar. Oh well, good riddance. They’ve been here far too long. They need to go. Let’s hope smart people will do the right thing by voting for Safe Surrey Coalition.
DeleteI contacted SPS Communications, and they confirmed SPS will begin taking over District 2 in November, with the transition expected to be completed in 2027, although no official timeline has been provided because the province oversees the transition.
ReplyDeleteI also spoke with a Surrey RCMP officer about this a while back. He confirmed that the SPS is set to take over the last remaining jurisdiction in November.
DeleteBecause the courts ordered the change, the RCMP has no choice but to leave Surrey, with officers transferring to other detachments across the province. The RCMP’s time in Surrey is coming to an end.

ReplyDeleteWhen Brenda created the Public Safety Committee, she appointed Brian Edwards as chair, putting both Norm Lipinski and the fire chief under his direction. Edwards and Rob Stutt were among Brenda’s strongest supporters in trying to stop the SPS transition, but the courts ordered Surrey to proceed.
ReplyDeleteDoug McCallum has made it clear that, if elected, he will abolish the Public Safety Committee. That means Edwards’ days on the committee and Stutt’s days as police board chair may be numbered.
I don’t think Brenda stands much of a chance. She talks a lot, but rarely takes meaningful action.
Surrey deserves far better than the RCMP. It’s about time they packed up their things and left Surrey forever, never to return. Goodbye. Good luck. And good riddance.
