Project Outsource: Peel Police Seize Millions from Criminal Network Tied to Towing
CP 24 is reporting that "Peel police say they have dismantled a violent criminal organization that attempted to extort hundreds of thousands of dollars from members of the community and defraud insurance companies by staging collisions across GTA roadways. Details of the investigation, dubbed Project Outsource, were announced at a news conference in Peel Region on Monday morning."
"According to investigators, 18 people have been arrested and are facing a total of nearly 100 charges in the probe, which was launched in July 2024."
"The investigation was launched by the police service’s extortion investigation task force in response to a sharp rise in violent extortions in 2023 that targeted members of the South Asian business community, Peel Regional Police Chief Nishan Duraiappah told reporters on Monday."
South Asian extortion. So Surrey holds a press conference with a parade of politicians talking the talk while Ontario simply does something and walks the walk. Imagine that. The world can see the way Ontario deals with crime is different than the way BC deals with crime. I'm not imagining it.
I hate to say this becuase I despise Ontario, but once again they are leading the way in tackiling organized crime.
ReplyDeleteDeport criminals. Why would we want to keep them? How much does it cost us to keep them in our prisons? Oh wait.....
ReplyDelete
Keeping an inmate in a Canadian federal prison costs an average of $114,587 per year, or $314 per day. However, the cost can vary significantly depending on the security level of the facility. For example, maximum security inmates can cost taxpayers upwards of $174,939 per year
Deporting criminals who weren't born here is commons sense.
DeleteExactly so.
