Rogers cuts News 1130 simulcasts Sportsnet

Global is reporting that "Rogers Sports & Media announced on Tuesday that it has made the “difficult decision” to close Sportsnet 650 and News 1130 in Vancouver. They are two of six radio stations in four markets closing due to declining audience and revenue trends, the company stated."

"Others include news and sports stations in Vancouver and news stations in Halifax and Kitchener. According to the organization, 80 employees were affected by the radio closures and 230 positions were eliminated across Rogers Sports & Media."

"According to a story on its website, the websites for all four news stations will continue to exist, providing news content. CityNews will continue to stream news on CityNews 24/7 in Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver. TV newscasts will continue in Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton and Montreal."

CTV is reporting that "Listeners expecting Canadian content when they tuned to Sportsnet 650 AM in Vancouver on Tuesday heard a syndicated American talk show instead. Rogers Sports and Media pulled the plug on a total of six stations across the country, including Sportsnet 650 and News 1130 in Vancouver."

More media mergers means more fake news. Another FBI Simulcast.
