Surrey Fire, Vaisakhi in Surrey tomorrow

There was an industrial fire in Guildford today. All the roads were blocked off on our way to Cypress for the sunset. On the way back the business looked gutted.

Tomorrow is Vaisakhi in Surrey. Big parade, lots of food and lots of fun. Religious service in the community. It's a big deal here. The Sikh motorcycle club are a big hit.

Everyone here knows about samosas and butter chicken but veggie pakora is also very nice. Tonight we discovered Mary Browns Chicken. It's from Newfoundland. It's awesome. Canadian owned and operated. There's also a lot of nice Korean chicken places in Surrey now as well.

    1. This is true. The Sikhs have been a pillar in Canadian communities for many years. Many served in the war. In India they trusted England more than the Hindu extremists who persecuted them. Here they have religious freedom. Yet the rise in hate of immigrants is a manufactured emergency we need to confront. Today they had 128th street blocked off for Vaisakhi and you could see a whole lot of beautiful women all over walking around in elegant silk sarees. Just say'n.

  2. Remember Brownie’s Fried Chicken. There used to be one at the bottom of Mt. Seymour. I think there is only one left in Maple Ridge now.

    1. Yeah that's pretty retro. There used to be one in Langley. The thing I find unique about Mary Browns is that it's from Newfoundland and has a mural of a street in Newfoundland on their wall.
