Taking a knee for the Nation: Take heed of the Dream

Right now there is a lot of crazy things happening in the United States. The US media has become a bizarre set on reality television that has become so absurd it is difficult to watch. Consequently, most of us choose to watch something else. As always I like to shun extremes. Donald Trump has been rambling about the NFL football players who have started kneeling during the anthem protesting the direction much of the nation has gone in recently.

Personally, I don't see kneeling during the anthem as being disrespectful. Sitting when you are supposed to stand if you are able to stand would be disrespectful. Bowing your head, covering your heart or taking a knee during the anthem is not disrespectful. Trump needs to let it go. There are bigger concerns we need to worry about. Yet when the media claims Trumps objections to the protest are grounds for impeachment, it just shows how absurd the fake news has become.

When I first saw the football players take a knee it reminded me of Martin Luther King taking a knee saying a prayer before a protest march. Recently Martin Luther King's daughter Tweeted that people didn't like the way my father protested either.

When Stevie Wonder recently took a knee at a music festival in New York he actually took two knees and said a prayer for the nation. That was very respectful. With all the insanity that is happening south of the 49 right now saying a prayer for the nation can't hurt. Yet prayer shouldn't be political. Hillary Clinton was the author of Operation Fast and Furious. Tom Cruise's new movie American Made talks about Barry Seal's drug trafficking for the CIA out of Mena Arkansas which was tied to Bill Clinton and George Bush Senior both. Buyer Beware.

Pedestrian killed on Surrey side street

The Vancouver Province is reporting that "Surrey RCMP say a man struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Guildford has died from his injuries. The 28-year-old man was unconscious suffering head injuries when he was found lying in the street by a passerby near the 14300 block of 92nd Avenue at 7:20 a.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, later died in hospital."

“No one had witnessed what led to the man’s injuries and it wasn’t readily apparent what had transpired or how long he had been injured,” said Cpl. Scotty Schumann, Surrey RCMP media relations officer. The accident occurred on a quiet dead-end residential street. “That’s an area that does not have a lot of traffic, so it makes you wonder how someone could not see a person standing on the side of the road,” said Schumann. RCMP investigators located glass fragments and pieces of a vehicle suspected to have been involved.

Hit by a car on a dead end street early in the morning. It just doesn't make sense.

VPD discover two bodies and a hatchet

Scan BC is reporting that "Neighbours reported a hatchet and blood trailing out of a house near 64 Ave & Hudson St. #Vancouver Police have located two bodies inside." Global is confirming the fatalities and the fact that a local resident didn't hear any gunfire thus the presence of an axe.

Pitbull sends his private plane to Puerto Rico - Update

The New York Daily News is reporting that "The American rapper known as Pitbull is sending his private plane to Puerto Rico so that cancer patients can receive treatment in the United States."

The Verge is reporting that "In the wake of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico’s 3.4 million American citizens remain almost entirely without electrical power — but it’s not because their power plants are blown. The problem is that roughly 80 percent of transmission lines, which take power from the plants to distribution centers, are down. Nearly all the local power lines that run to residences and businesses have likely also been destroyed."

NBC is reporting that "About 44 percent of the Puerto Rican population remains without drinking water, the Department of Defense said in a statement Wednesday." The Washington Post is reporting that "The Trump administration is rushing military hardware and personnel to Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands as it becomes increasingly clear that the U.S. government response to Hurricane Maria so far has been inadequate and overmatched by the scale of the disaster."

The Vancouver Province is reporting that Dianne Watts' Liberal leadership bid receives mixed reviews. Today they printed one letter for and one letter against. The letter against was rather amusing. Robert Brown wrote in and called Dianne Watts a chameleon for changing her political stripes back and forth so many times. He even referred to her as driftwood in the river of politics. Botox that. I guess that's not as bad as when Dianne Watts and Alex Tsakumis called Barinder Rasode a whore. Looks like Dianne Watts' new election theme song is Karma Chameleon.

Man shot in Surrey drives himself to the hospital

News 1130 is reporting that "RCMP officers had to rush to Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock last night after a man drove himself to the emergency room in a shot-up pickup truck."

The Peacearch News is reporting that "A witness says the man arrived at the hospital in a pick-up truck with at least two bullet holes in the rear driver side door, which was seized by police. The investigation led police to Cloverdale, specifically the 5300-block of 164th Street, where the shooting is believed to have occurred.

Linda Airhead Hepner throws her head in the sand and says gee I don't know what to do guys. It's not my problem. You need to resign. Having the RCMP provide police protection to the Hells Angels drug dealers on the Surrey strip is criminal negligence.

Surrey School Board places roadblock to LRT insanity

The Peacearch News is reporting that "The Surrey School Board wants Mayor Linda Hepner to address how an elementary school’s playing field is being affected by road construction plans. At its first meeting of this school year, on Sept. 20, the Surrey Board of Education received a report from Superintendent Dr. Jordan Tinney summarizing concerns about the 105 Avenue Connector project’s impacts on Hjorth Road Elementary school."

"The city intends to build a road that would cut through the Guildford school, and an LRT station is planned next to the school. In his report, Tinney notes the crucial need and community desire for transit improvements but said our priority is the impacts on schools.”

“Hjorth Road Elementary school is central to our community,” writes Tinney. “We realize and appreciate that the creation of a robust transportation system is in the best interest of Surrey, but we need to ensure that our community school remains viable and safe. Having access to a viable play field on-site is essential to the operation of a school.”

Trustee Terry Allen said prior to shovels going in the ground, there needs to be an agreement in place between the city and the board. “The truth of the matter is, for the board of education, if it doesn’t benefit the students, then there will be no deal,” he said. “That’s what we’re elected to do and that’s what we will continue to do.”

This neighbourhood, noted Allen, is one of the city’s lowest income. “These students and Holly Elementary are the most vulnerable students. We’re committed to that school, and we always have been,” he said. “The city can do what it wants with Hawthorne Park but they can’t do what they want with our property.” Allen said while he appreciates parkland, his “fight begins at the fence of Hjorth Road.” “There’s a lot at stake,” he added. “The city needs to know that. I’m not going to lie to you and say that city staff and our staff haven’t spoken. But I want to be very clear that there certainly is no deal between the council and the board of education.”

Linda Hepner is a raging lunatic and Dianne Watts is the driving force behind this insanity.

Three shootings in Surrey - Update

The Peacearch News is reporting that "Surrey RCMP are investigating three shootings that occurred within 12 hours of each other on Saturday night.

The first had police cordoning off 30 Avenue between 148 Street and 147A just before 6 p.m. According to an RCMP news release, another shooting, this one just at 5:21 a.m. Sunday, took place in the 14700 block of 30 Avenue – the same location as the one just hours prior.

A third shooting took place in the Newton area of Surrey at 5:10 a.m. Sunday. A news release said that Mounties are investigating a shooting in the 8400 block of 121a Street.

Update: The Peacearch News is reporting that "Five people have been arrested in connection with a pair of shots-fired incidents in South Surrey over the weekend. Police announced the arrests, and the seizure of three vehicles – all of which took place at a residence in White Rock – in a news release issued late Monday afternoon."

Surrey Six appeal causes more delays

CBC is reporting that "Canada's highest court has agreed to hear an appeal involving four RCMP officers who investigated the so-called Surrey Six murders in Surrey, B.C. The Supreme Court of Canada has ruled it will hear special prosecutor Chris Considine's appeals of a 2015 ruling from the B.C. Supreme Court and a 2017 decision from the B.C. Court of Appeal."

RCMP officers Derek Brassington and Paul Johnston, David Attew and Danny Michaud face charges including breach of trust, obstruction of justice and fraud. The trial for the four men was expected to begin in 2013, but has been delayed repeatedly.

This is a colossal concern because this is what's holding up Jamie Bacon's trial which could in fact see him get off due to trial delays and would be a crime against humanity. An RCMP officer slept with a witness in the Surrey Six. That was unprofessional. Having an affair on his wife was cheap. Yet none of that has anything whatsoever to do with the Surrey Six murder and investigation. Jamie Bacon's trial needs to proceed. Delaying that trial any more is simply wrong.

The CBC article is referring to Chris Considine's appeals of a 2015 ruling from the B.C. Supreme Court and a 2017 decision from the B.C. Court of Appeal. We need to find out which decisions the special prosecutor is appealing. Publication bans prevent revealing details of the decisions publically but not privately. One would think the special prosecutor would not be appealing a decision that convicted the police he charged.

The thing is, the four officers have not been convicted yet. Their trial is being delayed to allow for the completion of this appeal proceedings. Police misconduct charges in this case were filed by the Ontario Provincial Police. Let's hope the RCMP aren't putting the trial of Jamie Bacon at risk just to cover up more police misconduct like they did during the Pickton inquiry.
