Tristin Hopper nailed it: Harm Promotion Sucks
Tristin Hopper is an award-winning reporter working for the National desk of the National Post. He just put out a timely article claiming that Vancouver’s drug strategy has been a disaster. Be very wary of emulating it. He nailed it. The Vancouver model in the DTES has been a colossal failure. It is not a model to emulate. The Pharmaceutical Fraud continues...

6 Hells Angels arrested in Langford
Global is reporting that "Six full-patch member of the Hells Angels gang were arrested during a traffic stop on Vancouver Island. Investigators say West Shore RCMP officers stopped a limousine on Highway 1 near Leigh Road in Langford on Saturday. They say the limousine was stopped after it was seen committing a Motor Vehicle Act offence."
"During the traffic stop, police gathered evidence which led to the arrest of all occupants of the vehicle. When the vehicle was searched, police found a loaded handgun with several full magazines and various suspected drugs such as cocaine, marijuana and other suspected controlled substance in tablet forms."
It will be interesting to hear which names were involved. Langford is home to the Devils Rejects.
Korean election results are in
The Guardian is reporting that "Moon Jae-in, a left-leaning liberal who favours engagement with North Korea, has won South Korea’s presidential election, raising hopes of a potential rapprochement with Pyongyang. The former human rights lawyer won 41.4% of the vote, according to an exit poll cited by the Yonhap news agency, placing him comfortably ahead of his nearest rivals, the centrist software entrepreneur Ahn Cheol-soo and the conservative hardliner Hong Joon-pyo, both of whom have conceded defeat.
South Koreans who backed Moon, 64, will be hoping the election result will mark a clean break from the corruption scandal surrounding his disgraced predecessor Park Geun-hye. Hours before polls closed, the national election commission forecast that turnout would exceed 80% – the highest since Kim Dae-jung was elected in 1997."
So we have just witnessed a wonderful example of democracy in action within South Korea. There were massive peaceful protests in South Korea where the people demanded the president resign over corruption allegations. He resigned and they had an election to vote for a new president. That is a perfect example of democracy. In contrast, that would never have happened in North Korea or in China. In Tiananmen square when people protested for democracy the Communist government dispersed the crowd with live ammunition.
North Korea calls itself the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. That isn't even a bad joke. It is a bold faced lie North Korea is not a democracy or a free republic. It is a totalitarian dictatorship. There is no voting for leaders, there is no free speech, there is no lawful assembly. There is no civl liberty. No protection from unlawful arrest. Those rights do not exist in North Korea or Communist China. Communism is bad. History had recorded that.

BC Election Results
The NDP and the Green Party could form the new government. We knew it would be close but this is an interesting twist. CBC is reporting that Christy Clark and her Liberals were "elected in 43 of B.C.'s 87 ridings, compared to 41 for the NDP and three for the Green Party. It takes 44 seats to form a majority in B.C. It is B.C.'s first minority government result since 1952."
It takes 44 seats to form the government and Christy doesn't have it so either the Liberals or the NDP have to team up with the Green party to form a government. This is likely the best possible result we could have hoped for. No one has a majority government and the Green Party has the deciding vote just like Chuck Cadman did when he ran as an independent. Finally the Green party has standing and a powerful voice. This could indeed be the beginning of something new and something posative for BC.
CBC is also reporting that Jagrup Brar, Jinny Sims and Garry Begg upset Liberals in Surrey ridings. That means the slimeball Peter fassbender has fallen. Oh happy day. The first task on the agenda is to fix the BC Hydro fraud and contract in the private power brokers that sell power to the public utilities company at above market rates. That Gordon Campbell fraud has defrauded taxpayers and destroyed the budget for long enough.
Update: Everything is up in the air still because not all the votes have been counted. They still haven't counted the advanced polls and the absentee ballots. That means several seats could still swing the other way so it's not over yet. If the status quo holds, the Green Party could have a veto on the Site C Dam. SNC-Lavalin has got to go.

NDP wants to scrap bridge tolls
Some NDP supporters were out with signs on 152nd street in Surrey right before the entrance to the Port Mann toll bridge today. Everyone claims the NDP will tax and spend but that is exactly what the BC Liberals are doing. The NDP want to scrap bridge tolls.
They also opposed the excessive regional gas tax. That would be a reduction in tax. Then the spin doctors change their tune and scoff how do they plan on paying for that? Wait 'till I tell ye.
The kool aid kids claim the only fair thing to do is to toll every bridge. Not. You cannot toll a bridge that has already been paid for. That is illegal. It also infringes on the mobility right in the Canadian Charter of Rights. Putting a toll back on the Lions Gate bridge after it was already tolled and paid for would be unfair. It would just be another tax grap for the Vancouver Mayors' glutton council.
The first thing they can do is contract in the collection of bridge tolls. That fact that we contract out the collection of bridge tolls to American companies is insane. The only reason a private company would agree to collecting bridge tolls is so THEY can make a profit and tax payers expense. That is why the American company that was collecting the toll on the Coquihalla kept the toll on long after it was paid off. So they could make a profit.

Peter Fassbender nose dives before election
Normally vandalizing election signs is in bad taste but this one was rather humorous. A coworker told me that someone had cut out the F in one of Peter Fassbender's election signs leaving it to read Assbender. Somewhat amusing given the disdain for him in this riding.
In contrast, Chuck Cadman was a local politician well respected and admired. He started off Reform after launching his own nonprofit group CRY - Crime Responsibility Youth calling for greater accountability within the young offenders act. After Chuck Cadman was screwed over by Stephen Harper twice, he ran as an independent and won his seat comfortably.
When Chuck Cadman died of cancer, all over Surrey people started posting his election signs they had saved with the slogan RIP Chuck Cadman and We love You Chuck. Chuck Cadman was so respected because he wasn't a dirty politicians like most of the others. He was someone who genuinely cared. Peter Fassbender in contrast is a complete sleazebag.
#IamLinda
Then came Linda. A new social media storm that launched when a BC voter saw Christie Clark in the Grocery store and said she wouldn't be voting for her. Initially Christy Clark's response was fine, stating that's the perk of living in a democracy, but then they went on and on about how it was a NDP plant. They had to backtrack on that statement when they were proven wrong.
This election is going to be a little too close to call. Last election the NDP were ahead in the polls and the public panicked with all the fear based propaganda. That is something I would like to address. No political party is perfect. The NDP has it's strengths and weaknesses like any other. Yet this tax and spend fraud has to stop. The BC Liberal Party has been bad to the bone since Gordon Campbell. Christy Clark was a small step forward but the party did not change and she was quickly consumed in the greed and the poison kool aid.
Its not often BC political corruption makes the New York Times. Everyone says the NDP will tax and spend but their past history with BC Hydro tells a different story. When it comes to tax and spend, the BC Liberals are by far the greatest offenders in recorded history.
Spending obscene amounts of tax dollars on advertising follows the Stephen Harper model of pork barrel politics. Brian Mulroney was suposed to be right wing. He was suposed to be fiscally responsible. He was anything but. His tax and spend gluttony brought in the GST. Likewise, the BC Liberals have brought in a 10 cents a litre regional gas tax, a Translink that burns a billion dollars a year in taxes begging for more and a BC Hydro deferred debt that is off the charts.
I oppose pork barrel tax and spend politics. That is why I oppose the BC Liberals. We need to address BC Hydro's growing deferred debt. The only way to do that is by nationalizing the power brokers that sell power to BC Hydro at above market rates. While we are at it, nationalizing our oil would simply be good business for consumers and tax payers alike.

Postmedia's credibility cover up
I was going to bite my tongue and let this one slide but once again curiosity killed the cat. Lately the local newspapers have been running a full page ad over top the front page of the paper. The other day the Vancouver Province ran a full page ad before the papers front page which was a letter from the Editor in Chief of the Vancouver Sun and the Vancouver Province Harold Munro.
The letter was a declaration of how the Vancouver Province is committed to telling the truth and speaking out for the vulnerable while they champion the underdog and stand up to those in authority who can make it right. "That has always been our promise to you. We won't stop now."
The first question that came to my mind when I read that is what credibility meltdown did I miss that warranted such a bold declaration? Was it the Peter Leask cover up because in that case they broke everyone of their promises.
All of those past pledges described Wayne Moriarty but something changed when Harold Munro from the Vancouver Sun took over the Vancouver Province. The newspaper has become dare I say, corporate. Now I don't want to be a hater. My employer subscribes to the Vancouver Province and I want them to continue doing so. It's just that I find this full page ad promising to return to the values of yesteryear suspicious.
It reminds me of that quote from Shakespeare "The lady doth protest too much, methinks" which suggests that someone who is strongly denying something is hiding the truth.
The new Vancouver Province has cast aside Wayne Moriarty's voice of reason and is spamming the public with the pharmaceutical company's golden fraud of prescription heroin. Nothing could be more insane. If the new Vancouver Province is still committed to telling the truth and fighting for the underdog, why did they make Kim Bolan take down her blog post about Peter Leask? Nothing she said was untrue. Tim Petruk was rock solid. If they fire him then we know their pledge is fake. Let's hope they stand by it in the future.
Hamilton mobster shot dead outside his home
CBC is reporting that "Angelo Musitano, a member of Hamilton's notorious Musitano crime family, has been gunned down outside his suburban Hamilton home. Police say multiple shots were fired at Musitano as he pulled in to the driveway of his home in Waterdown late in the afternoon. He was in the vehicle when he was hit, said police. When emergency crews arrived he was already without vital signs. He was later pronounced dead in hospital. He was 39."
The Star dot com is reporting that Angelo Musitano is the brother of Pat Musitano. Together they were charged with first-degree murder in the 1997 contract killing of Hamilton mob boss Johnny Papalia. Angelo Musitano great-uncle fled Delianova, Italy, a village in Calabria and cam to Canada in 1937. The Calabrians in Hamilton were behind the war o the rizzutos in Montreal.
Undercover cop Bob Deasy became Pasquale (Fat Pat) Musitano's driver and wrote a book about his experiences takling organized crime in Ontaraio called Being Uncle Charlie: A Life Undercover with Killers, Kingpins, Bikers and Druglords. Bob Deasy's court case against claimed that Several Hamilton police officers have ties to organized crime and the Hells Angels. Manning also names a Toronto officer he alleges was selling guns to Toronto gang members.

Dirty ATF Agent kept his job
US Senator Chuck Grassy reported that ATF Agents linked to ‘Fast and Furious’ Still Employed despite Agency Recommendation. The ATF’s Professional Review Board recommended that Special Agent William Newell be terminated from federal service. This Pencil neck prick was the clown on the feild in charge of Operation Fast and Furious. He was the spin doctor sent in to rationalize the ATF's involvement in the CIA Operation that was selling guns to the Mexican cartel and bringing back tons of cocaine into the US as payment. After heads began to roll and scapegoats started to fall, Newell was *reassigned* to ATF Headquarters. (They gave the POS a promotion) Special Agent William Newell wins the Gangsters out Dirtbag of the Year award. Prick.
