Hitman in 2020 Richmond murder sentenced

The Vancouver Sun is reporting that "A hitman who fired seven rounds through the window of a Richmond restaurant four years ago, killing alleged money launderer Jian Jun Zhu and injuring another diner, has been sentenced to life in prison."

If he was a hitman he was hired to commit the murder. No word on who hired him. That's a familiar pattern in BC. The judge's decision has been posted online

The Tyee is reporting that "According to prosecutors, the shot that killed Zhu was probably intended for Paul King Jin, who was injured in the hail of bullets. Jin was a target of the RCMP’s massive E-Pirate investigation, a multi-year effort that collapsed as a result of inadvertent disclosures and administrative errors by the RCMP. Two other guests that night at the Manzo were later killed in separate shootings"

Casino.org is reporting that "Antonuk didn’t say who hired Reed, nor reveal their motive for wanting Jin dead. But he did claim members of the group that ordered the assassination were inside the restaurant at the time of the attack."
