Elon Musk and the H1-B visas

Someone had commented on how Elon Musk was getting backlash for his support of the H1-B visas. Seemingly that has something to do with allowing immigrants who are skilled labour. The backlash shows how hillbilly many have become.

We want immigrants with labour skills who are willing to work. We don't want unskilled criminals who refuse to work. It's that simple. Remember the American dream? Remember the poem on the Statue of Liberty? We're all f*cking immigrants.  The hillbillies want to keep America uneducated.

In BC Bonney Henry created a manufactured emergency by refusing to allow unvaccinated Health Care workers back to work when everyone else had after Covid was over. Then she wanted to bring in vaccinated foreign workers to take their place. That was scab labour but skilled immigration is good.

    1. That was a very long time ago. If I'm not mistaken that was mostly about the Irish gangs in the early days. I also watched the Warriors many times which was from the 70's. It had changed considerably by the time I got there in /88 and /89.

  2. The issue is that these H1B workers will be hired (at lower wages) than qualified potential American workers. There is already a category of application for highly skilled workers when they can't be found among American applicants. If you recall, Disney had some infamy for using this H1B program to bring in workers to replace their existing staff - and had the cajones to get their staff to train their replacements before being let go. The program is simply helping the Donor class make more profit, at the expense of paying Americans fair wages. No different than NAFTA or other "free trade" deals that allowed all the union manufacturing jobs to go away overseas. Sure we get cheap goods but an ever shrinking middle class (not an unintended consequence imo).

    1. I don't believe that's true. I think that's a false narrative. It's like Hitler saying we don't want immigration because they'll take away all our jobs. The more people that move in, the more jobs there are. If you work in the construction industry or any of the trades, the more people that move in the more work you have.

Construction happens when cities grow. When they don't grow there's no work and everyone moves to the city to find work because they are growing. IE people are moving there from somewhere else.

If you work in the food or transportation industry, the more people that move in the more work there is. Hitler preached a false narrative to justify his agenda just like the Communists do. When we watch the pendulum swing, be careful we don't let it swing too far the other way. It's not a debate between Communism and Fascism. There is something in between. It's called a free republic.

Do you want tech companies to build in Canada or somewhere else?

    2. And to answer your last question, Yes. I want Tech companies to build in Canada, employing CANADIAN citizens and paying fair wages to them. Henry Ford's model beats the Globalist model as far as ancillary benefits to the nation.

  3. Canada please!

But given the taxes and the cost of doing business here, relocation to an American state that offers tax benefits would seem to be more likely, especially if Trump gets sworn in.
