Infotel is reporting that "A 55-year-old Kelowna man with no criminal record, a 36-year-old once jailed for domestic violence and a 34-year-old armed robber, have all been charged in relation to an armed kidnapping in Kelowna."
"Daniel Gilles Archambault, 36, David Apollo Sheremeto, 55, and Zackary Jard Purdy, 34, are all facing multiple charges for the armed kidnapping of Joshua Marsh."
"Precise details of what is alleged to have taken place aren't yet known, but the charges say the three men violently assaulted March and pointed handguns at him while kidnapping him."
"Purdy is also charged with firing a shot. In 2013, Purdy was accused of being the ringleader in a kidnapping in Ponoka, Alberta, over a $200 drug debt, according to local media."
For $200. Wow. There should be a sentencing enhancement for stupid. Say an extra year.
ReplyDeleteViolent towards community as well as being so stupid and desperate is pathetic, garbage like that shouldn’t be walking the streets with the rest of society.
DeletePurdy's the repeated offender. It's like Prince George or the DTES. Very violent for small drug debts.
DeleteOur present "setup" is not geared to eliminating predators like this before they can hurt others. People like this are the systems "customers", not us. If something is not working and we want it to, we will have to change it to accomplish to desired goal. If that can't or won't be done, no change will occur and in fact things will get worse.
ReplyDeleteVery much so but we shouldn't let a manufactured emergency cause us to go from one extreme to the other. The problem is repeat offenders. The more charges they have the less time they serve. It's completely backwards.
DeleteAgreed.
DeleteI think as individuals we are fairly sensitive as you say, to manufactured emergencies. But as a group we are more susceptible. It's our nature unfortunately. It's this aspect that all the would be dictators of the world use to their benefit.
