Today I rode up to Seymour and the snow was awesome.
There was a lot more than 10 cm.
Seymour's not open for skiing and snowboarding yet but it will be soon. Today they were training staff on the chair lifts. Search and rescue were training new recruits in the backcountry showing them how to make snow caves and look for people buried in avalanches.
I went up to Brockton Point again. What a difference from October 30th.
The nice thing about winter is that all the roots and rocks are covered in snow and it's smooth sailing. Most people use crampons on Seymour because the trail is so well travelled.
This is the gateway from Brockton Point to the trail to First Peak. I could have easily continued on because the trail was awesome but I'm breaking in gradually as I'm still recovering from my hip replacement. One step at a time. The season has just begun. It's better than sitting in a gym.
I always used to say coming down into the rainy city after spending a day in the snow on the mountains was like waking up from a pleasant dream. When I got home I thought was that real? Then I remembered and said yeah it was. I have pictures so dream on soulja. Dream on.

Sumas Lake and the Nooksack River
CTV is reoriotng that " In the hours before the Sumas Prairie flooded, the rain was coming down hard and fast in the Fraser Valley. However, experts say, the rain is not what put the prairie underwater. “A lot of that water is coming from spillover from the Nooksack (River),” said Dave Campbell, head of the B.C. River Forecast Centre. The Nooksack River flows north of Bellingham in Washington State. When it overflows, Campbell says, floodwater can end up in the Sumas River. From there, the water flows northeast, crossing the border into Abbotsford."
King 5 is reporting that "The east Sumas Prairie, which sits on a dried lake bed, continues to fill up with floodwaters from the Nooksack River. Braun said that waters from the Nooksack River continue to flow northeast over the U.S.-Canada border into the Sumas Prairie, the eastern two-thirds of which sits on the bed of a dried lake. (The Sumas Lake) The Barrowtown Pump Station, constructed for this very reason, continues to pump water from the east prairie into the Fraser River to the north at full capacity, but even at 500,000 gallons per minute, it has been unable to catch up to the amount of water coming in, Braun said."
They are referring to the Sumas lake. 100 years ago, Abbotsford had a lake. The Abbotsford News is reporting that "Sumas Lake was drained and the Vedder canal was built in the early 1920s, using a pump station to divert the lake’s in-flowing rivers for irrigation and allow European farmers to access the fertile soil. It was described as an engineering marvel at the time."
"Over the next 10 years, thousands of acres of some of the most productive farmland was created in the Lower Mainland. Barrowtown Pump Station was built in the early 1980s for $27 million. It’s the second busiest pump station in North America; four pump engines running full tilt can pump 500,000 gallons of water a minute."
"The Nooksack River breached in 1990, swamping the Whatcom Road interchange and the western portions of Sumas Prairie, and shutting down all traffic on Highway 1 for 26 hours The U.S. river carries water from Mount Baker to the Puget Sound near Bellingham, but when it breaches, the floodwater flows north towards the Sumas Prairie."
"An international task force was created after the 1990 event to try and prevent a future disaster from occurring, but was inactive from 2011 to 2018. It was called a one-in-35-year event. One 1995 study found that a larger “avulsion” flood event could change the course of the river permanently, diverting its flow north into the former Sumas Lake, draining into the Fraser River."
Unfortunately that international task force didn't do anything. We need better dykes and a secondary pump at the Barrowtown Pump Station. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
King 5 is reporting that "Flooded communities in Whatcom County are being warned of asbestos exposure from a decades-old landslide on Sumas Mountain. Swift Creek, located on the west side of the mountain, can carry the naturally-occurring asbestos from the landslide sediment when flooded. The Sumas River, which joins the creek, can also contain asbestos, according to the Whatcom County Health Department."
This is all due to climate change right? Not. "The Nooksack river currently supplies the nearby town of Glacier with hydroelectric power from a dam near Nooksack Falls on the North Fork. The Middle Fork was also partially blocked with a diversion dam built by the City of Bellingham in 1961 for diverting water into Lake Whatcom, Bellingham's drinking water supply. As of July 2020, this old water diversion system has been modified to remove the dam and restore the river channel for the benefit of critical salmon spawning habitat." B.C. has been warned for years of potential for key Sumas dike to fail
Even Post Media trash is citing a 2015 report that said the height of the Sumas dyke was unacceptable and was .6 meters below design. That was 5 years before the US got rid of the diversion dam built in the /50's to divert water from the Nooksack river to the Whatcom lake. When they got rid of that diversion dam in July 2020, that sent more water down the Nooksack river. The BC NDP are completely useless. We can all see that now.
The US claims they removed the diversion dam from the middle fork of the Nooksack river to restore 16 miles of fish habitat. That is true but me thinks the fact that it was also diverting some naturally occurring asbestos from Mount Baker into their drinking water at Whatcom lake might have also had something to do with it. Either way, more water is coming from the Nooksack so we need to build a higher dyke and get a second pump.
Cypress mountain downhill skiing open today
I had the day off so I rode up Cypress mountain to check out their season opening. It's a bit early but they just received 10 cm of fresh snow and they have their snow machines working. They only work when it's below freezing so they can turn them on at night.
This is the beginning of the trail to Hollyburn Ridge.
I went over to the cross country area to see if there was enough snow to snowshoe and there was so I dusted off my snowshoes and tried them out.
I didn't go very far because it was foggy and I'm really out of shape since my surgery. The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step and today I took that step. It's nice snow and an early start to the season.
Kyle Rittenhouse acquitted of all charges
Today the jury acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse of all charges in his self-defence shooting of three violent criminals during the riots. The matter never should have gone to trial. The star witness testified that Kyle never shot him until he pointed a gun at him. He was running away from them and they were chasing him. He fell and they started giving him the boots so he shot them in self-defence. Joe Biden and the mainstream media suck.BREAKING: Kyle Rittenhouse has been found NOT guilty on all charges. pic.twitter.com/E7tbGSuBA4

Erin O'Toole has lost his mind: Update
Well another Sith Lord bites the dust. Erin O'Toole has lost his mind. He kicks a Senator out of the Conservative Caucus because she called for a leadership review after his defeat in the last election. Like WTF? Another fake femenist. Then he warns more expulsions are in store for any MP who challenges his leadership. Ever? AYFKM? This guy is a raging lunatic.
Andrew Sheer did better than he did in the last election and after he lost, they held a leadership review. Personally, I thought that was premature. Andrew Sheer got more votes than Justin Trudeau, I wouldn't call that a defeat. Yet when the same thing happens to Erin O'Toole he goes all Sith Lord. That is bat sh*t crazy. Anyone who calls for a leadership review will be kicked out of the party. Can he not see how completely insane that sounds?
Globalists within the Conservatives have a tendency of kicking out other MPs from the party who they see as a threat to their leadership. That's what Globalists do because Globalists are Communists and Erin O'Toole is a Globalist. He is destrying the party and needs to be replaced.
Conservative senators defy O'Toole on expulsion of senator who challenged leadership
Update: CTV is reporting that "Conservative senators have chosen to keep Batters in their fold, notwithstanding party leader Erin O'Toole's decision Tuesday to kick her out of the national caucus after she challenged his leadership." We need someone who speaks French.
CBC is reporting that "Currently, the UCP has scheduled a vote on Kenney's leadership for the weekend of April 8-9, 2022. However, a significant number of UCP members are so fed up with Kenney they want the leadership vote to be held as soon as possible, certainly before March 1st."

Dealing with BC's State of Emergency
Update: Sumas Lake and the Nooksack River
Whether or not John Horgan's NDP or Justin Trudeau's Liberals announce it, BC is in a legitimate state of emergency that could have easily been avoided and I'll tell you why.
It has been raining very hard almost nonstop for the past two months. Sunday another storm hit that the media referred to as an atmospheric river which was more of the same - heavy rain. Consequently, many rivers have overrun their banks which has caused flooding.
Merrit has serious flood damage where the flood has contaminated the drinking water. Having contaminated drinking water is one thing but not being ble to flush your toilet is another. You can buy drinking water at the store. Well, some of us can which leads us to the real emergency the media is ignoring. Locally, Castle Fun Park is under water but no one cares about Castle Fun Park. The problem is that park is right beside the freeway and if the Fun park is flooded so is the freeway which is a major transportation hub.
The Coquihalla has been shut down because the rising river has washed out the road and a bridge. That in itself isn't a big deal because before the Coquihalla was built people would take the Hope Princeton highway. However, that is closed from flooding and mudslides as well.
Why does this matter? Those transportation routes are what trucking companies use to supply local stores with food. Now all of a sudden, all the grocery stores in Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops, and Prince George will have no food. That is a legitimate emergency.
While the media is dramatizing the emotional side of the event, instead of focussing on saving cats from trees, we need to get one of the routes open so the grocery stores can get food. That is a number one priority. Mike Farnworth is a nice guy but he is not in touch with reality. He's running interference in the media saying it's going to take a long time to get the Coquihalla repaired because we have to make sure it's safe. He's thinking liability from recreational traffic. He's not thinking about all those communities starving without food.
We're fine in Vancouver. We have the port and the border is open. We can't get our beef from Brooks, Alberta but we can get most everything else. Pork and produce come from the border and chicken is local. He needs to make getting one of those routes open his number one priority.
In times of war, the army can build a bridge because attacking supply chains is a common goal in war. We need to bring the military in not to impose martial law, but to build a f*cking bridge because it's their fault this happened. Every year people who live in the flood plain have to be aware of rising river levels. This is nothing new. Previously the media would report on this.
This flooding didn't happen overnight. It has been raining almost nonstop for two months. No one has said a word about rising river levels. In previous years the media would report on it and when the water levels rose, we'd all be out there sandbagging. This year not a word. Thanks to Post Media News. It's as though they wanted this to happen.
The old problem, reaction, solution paradigm. Personally, I don't think they planned this. I think they are just completely useless and it was caused by their criminal negligence. The NDP is not the government you want in charge during an actual war. The same thing with Justin Trudeau.
In a real emergency those clowns need to step aside and sit it out. Environment Canada is federal. They monitor the weather and are supposed to monitor rising river levels. That would be Justin Trudeau's error. Yet ignoring the rising rivers and not having us sandbag beforehand falls on John Horgan. They are both criminally negligent. Regardless, the solution we need is to get one of those transportation routes open. That is the number one priority. Costco will no doubt be the first private company to find a solution and that they have. Normally they ship to those communities out of Vancouver. Since the freeways there from Vancouver are washed out, they are rerouting the product to those communicates out of the distribution centre in Airdrie, Alberta. The roads to Kelowna, Vernon and Kamloops are open from Airdrie so other groceries stores can get product from there as well. No thanks to John Horgan or Justin Trudeau.
John Horgan or Justin Trudeau don't care about those communities because those communities didn't vote for them. What they don't understand is that there is a reason those rural communities didn't vote for them and this is just one more reason to add to the list.
In Surrey, 88th Avenue at 176th Street is in the flood plain. Whenever it floods, that road closes. That's why they have a gate on the road. Yet I drove down there today after work and the road is open. The water is high but the road is fine. Abbotsford, Sumas and Chilliwack has flooding. I took the 401 freeway from Surrey to Abbotsford and made it to McCallum Road. That's where they force you off the freeway going east. The road sign said the 401 freeway was closed east of Sumas. I don't know about side roads or alternate routes because that's not my crib.
In Langley there is a senior's home near the Nicomekl river where the ground floor is completely flooded with water. The residents are stranded in their rooms on the upper floors. this is completely unacceptable. We can mobilize volunteers to sandbag through the Red cross because the government and the media is completely useless.
Families can also apply for assistance through the red cross. You can donate to the Red Cross online or through your United Way payroll deductions at work.

Kyle Rittenhouse is a Hero
I just want to say that Kyle Rittenhouse is a hero. He's a young kid on trial for shooting some rioters and looters in self-defence. The whole partisan misrepresentation of this case once again shows what's wrong with the current administration. He used a firearm in self defence against violent criminals. He shouldn't have been charged at all. The trial is a farce.
Colion Noir already pointed out that the prosecution revealed they had no idea about firearms and was determined to vilify the hero and demonize him. We have seen how crime and violence prevails in Democrat States because of the liberal ideology that is trying to destroy America and to teach kids to hate America and the freedom it represents. That whole year of ANTIFA hate and violence the media promoted was shameful. ANTIFA built the Berlin Wall.
Conservatives support law and order. Socialists use anarchists to destroy civil liberty and create chaos so they can create order amidst the chaos. Their order. The whole defund the police fraud was a scam to create chaos so they can come in and fund their police who are not bound by law to protect civil liberty. That's why they want to destroy the Constitution - so they can abolish civil liberty. That is the end game of socialism. They use anarchists as a means to that end.
Communists don't want the people to be self-reliant. Communists want the people to be solely dependent on the government so the government can have complete control over them. The right to bear arms is self-reliance. The protection of persons and property is an inherit right.
My son is a musician. Years ago he got a paid gig with the Abbotsford Youth Symphony. I spoke with another father at a concert who said he was from Chicago. He said during the Chicago riots, they all got their guns and lined up outside their homes. They told the rioters, if they come into their neighbourhood, they will shoot them dead. As a result, the rioters left them alone.
Obviously, Canada is very different. Our guns are not for self-defence. They are just for target shooting like in Switzerland. It's a good skill to have if we are forced to go to war but the American model of firearms for self-defence is very different. Yet during riots and looting, one cannot dispute the effectiveness of the right to bear arms to protect people and property.
In Canada we have the right to physically fight the looters like Curtis Sliwa did in New York. Noncooperation with evil is as much a moral obligation as is cooperation with good.
In the aftermath of the Minneapolis riots, there was a photo of four armed patriots standing shoulder to shoulder to protect the local businesses from vandalism and theft. They were two white men and two black men. The media intentionally edited the photo and maliciously misrepresented it. They cut out the two black men from the picture and said it was two white men ready to shoot black rioters. For over a year the media tried to create hate and division.
That is why we have to reject their absurd agenda by defending the constitution and the freedom it protects. Letting rioters burn and steal is an act of civil war. Lead, follow or get out of the way.
