Site C: A Dam that is built on sand will not stand

As I have previously mentioned I have been fairly impartial about the Site C Dam. I support hydroelectric power since it is green and cost effective. I never completely understood the big hullabaloo opposition to the plan. I understand people who live in the area don't want to lose their homes and farms. Now I am beginning to understand a bit more about the fertile nature of the valley and how that is good for farming but lacks sufficient bedrock to form a solid foundation for a huge dam of that magnitude.

This discussion is relevant and timely because of the recent change in government. The Greens hold the balance of power and oppose the project. That means they have the power of veto on the whole thing. Laila Yuile has been opposed to the project and I respect her right. I believe in free speech. If people have legitimate concerns with the project let's hear them.

Laila put out an amusing article about how a pair of nesting eagles were violating the court injunction. Right after that her blog and twitter were hacked by someone pretending to be Anonymous but it obviously wasn't them because they had no motive to hack Laila's blog. It was obviously corporate hacks desperately trying to censor her impersonating Anonymous. Which led me to ask Really guys? Why go through that much trouble? Are you that scared one eagle's nest is going to create enough of a public uproar to shut the project down?

Norm Farrell has written some relevant posts on the Site C Dam. The fact that SNC-Lavalin got the contract to build the dam through shell companies was a criminal act all in itself.

Now it has come to my attention that there is no bedrock under the Site C dam to build it. SNC-Lavalin lied. Below the silt is sandstone. That means if an earthquake hits, the dam will break. It's very fertile land like the Fraser Valley delta. That means it's great for farming but bad for building. Perhaps letting the Green Party veto the project will be in everyone's best interest.

The Undaunted Voices for Human Rights in Vietnam

While we are on the subject of Communist invasions, I'm going to recommend a book I recently came across called The Undaunted Voices for Human Rights in Vietnam by Tien Chu and Hai Trieu. I met the editor at a demonstration outside the Surrey Fusion Festval.

The book consists of interviews with 47 witnesses to Communist oppression in Vietnam. Any Canadian or American that does not understand the Vietnam war needs to read this book. You can order a copy of the book by contacting the editor at: nsvietnam@yahoo.com If you send him your mailing address and email transfer him $25 he will send you a copy of the book.

The book interviews a Buddhist monk named Thich Khong Tanh as well as Father Phan Van Loi who itemized the Communist inconsistencies along with numerous other witnesses including Father Thadeus Nguyen Van Ly, Pastor Nguyen Cong Chinh whose wife is being persecuted while he is in prison and a blogger named Ta Phong Tan.

These are Vietnam vets who served in the Vietnamese army and continued the battle for three years until they ran out of ammo after the Americans were forced to withdraw their support from political pressure within. They survived five and ten year sentences in Communist prison camps after the Communist invasion. We owe it to these wonderful Canadians to hear their story.

I have a huge respect for Martin Luther King. He was a wonderful person and a passionate activist. I do however, completely disagree with him on the Vietnam war. Canada should have participated in that struggle just like we did in the Korean war. We need to understand what really happened so we can honor those who did fight the good fight and lost.

North Korea Madness - China is not neutral

I want to pause amidst the current tensions between the US and North Korea to examine and clearly define who the real villains are in this smoke and mirror travesty. As we have previously discussed while the world prepares for the 2018 Winter Olympics to he hosted in South Korea, we need two raging lunatics to sit down and shut up.

However, I want to be clear that Donald Trump is not the real villain here. He is not the one threatening to nuke random countries. He is threatening to retaliate if North Korea fires a nuclear missile towards them or any of their allies. That is not crazy. That is common sense.

Donald Trump may well be a bit of a redneck but Kim Jong-un is evil. Kim is a dictator living in obscene wealth while most of his people starve in desperate poverty. There are no democratic elections in North Korea. There is no civl liberty in North Korea. There is no free speech, freedom of the press nor the right to lawful assembly. Those human rights do not exist in North Korea.

Nor do they exist in Communist China where they execute political prisoners on order for their organ harvesting enterprise. China says it would remain neutral if North Korea attacks the United States, but warned it would defend its Asian neighbor if the U.S. strikes first and tries to overthrow Kim Jong Un’s regime. That is not neutral. China is still the one pulling Kim's strings.

When China says they will remain neutral if North Korea nukes the United States that clearly means they are endorsing it. Why else would China object to the United States building an Iron Dome Missile Defense system in South Korea in preparation for the Winter Olympics? A missile defense system for South Korea is the most peaceful and logical solution conceivable. Communist China is objecting because they are the real villains in this whole scenario.

I don't like the use of nuclear weapons on civilians. Hiroshima and Nagasaki were complete tragedies that should never be repeated. However, if Kim Jong-un launches a nuclear attack on anyone else then the city he is living in should be nuked in response. That is automatic. It is a natural consequence of his actions. It's called the balance of power which believe it or not does help preserve world peace.

Without question Communist China is the real villain here and we need to remember that. That's why we need to reexamine our own complacency and reassess our culpability. Selling China natural gas is much better than selling them coal. Fracking aside, natural gas is clean burning, coal is not. If China used natural gas then their massive pollution problems would ease and this world would be a better place to live with les CO2 emissions polluting the atmosphere.

However, selling China fuel is very different than giving them our oil rights. If we sell them fuel we can stop selling it to them if they invade another country again. Now they own our oil rights. That means if they invade another country we can't cut off our oil. That is insane. Right now, thanks to Stephen Harper every time we get gouged at the pump filling our vehicles up with gas because of the corporate monopoly on oil, we are in reality funding the military expansion of a communist dictatorship complete with all it's obscene human rights abuses.

To make matters worse Canada is another villain in this nuclear arms race because we are selling Communist China Canadian reactors which gives them the technology and the materials to make and export nuclear weapons. China supplies North Korea. In essence, Canada is helping arm Kim Jong-un with nuclear missiles. That is evil and needs to be addressed.

Hells Angels associates in court from Langford bust

May 11th the Times Colonist reported that "Ten members of the Hells Angels were arrested in Langford after a limousine in which they were riding was stopped by West Shore RCMP when the driver was seen using his cellphone. A loaded gun and suspected drugs were found in the vehicle, RCMP said."

"The 10 people, four associate members and six full-patch members of the motorcycle club, were taken into custody but later released. Three have been ordered to appear in court on Aug. 10. 'Without being able to mention who are facing charges, I can say the full-patch Hells Angels were from the Nanaimo and Kelowna chapters,' Bérubé said."

However, CSO names the three who were ordered to appear in court yesterday as Tyler Halkyard, Tobin Lagarde and Bruce Warwick. They call me Bruce didn't show up so now there is a warrant out on him. The bulk of the charges appear to be falling on Tobin. It doesn't say whether these three are associates or full patch but one would assume the associates are the ones taking the fall. That's usually how it works. They're all due back in court August 31.

I have their pictures but I'm not positing them because they all have kids and its a pretty minor bust. It appears the drugs they were in possession of were for personal use at the gathering although they were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

If someone wants to smoke a joint that is none of my business. No one cares. It's in the process of being legalized. Likewise if someone wants to do a line of coke that's none of my business either. I have always said drugs in clubs or for those who want it and can afford it is none of my business. My beef is with crack. That is so 1980's.

When they take all that cocaine and cook it into crack they are doing it for one reason, to exploit the poor. Aside from Rob Ford, you dont see too many doctors or lawyers addicted to crack. Crack is highly addictive, highly damaging and is designed to target the poor because its so cheap. Yet the addiction consumes the addict and drives them insane. You don't see someone taking an axe to a senor citizen for another five dollars to buy pot but we have seen that in Surrey for crack. That is why letting people smoke crack in safe consumption sites is so insane. It eats the addict alive and creates a huge amount of spin off crime to pay for the drug.

We are still seeing crack cocaine being seized in drug busts and we are still handing out free crack pipes. That is insane. Crystal meth is even worse. We are still seeing crystal meth being used on the Surrey strip and now in the safe consumption site. This is a huge step backwards not forwards and just goes to show you that in Surrey the Future Dies Here.

With this new safe consumption site the Whalley srip has become the Bermuda Triangle. Everyone is walking around lost groping around in the darkness. Take a look at Laila Yuile's experience riding a bus home from skytrain after dark. This is the real Surrey the spin doctors don't want you to see. This is the real Surrey we have to live in. That's why we want it to change. We know we can do better. We want a better future for our kids. This is not it.

Whiterock RCMP wakes up and smells the coffee

The Peace Arch News is reporting that " White Rock RCMP have a stern message for those who peddle drugs in the city. 'If you deal drugs in White Rock you are not welcome here. Prepare to be arrested. We will not tolerate the misery and pain you are bringing into the community,' White Rock RCMP Staff Sgt. Daryl Creighton said in an emailed statement Friday afternoon."

Finally someone with a brain!!! God Bless Daryl Creighton. Can we trade? Why is this so difficult to comprehend? Enforcement is one of the four pillars. If you throw away that crucial pillar you are both stupid and corrupt. As long as you let drug dealers sell drugs in public, organized crime will fight over those profits and addicts will steal to pay for the drugs. Crime will rise if you refuse to enforce the law. It's that simple.

In contrast Linda Airhead Hepner says if you are a gang member we will go after you for jaywalking but we wont touch you if you are selling crack on the Surrey Strip. Will someone please put that clown out of her misery? Go home. Let Eileen Mohan take over the party. If she wont do it Doug McCallum will. You are going to arrest a fringe associate for jay walking but you won't touch the drug trafficking coming out of Shakerz. You're the one that should be in jail.

Devils Rejects clubhouse raided in homicide investigation

CBC is reporting that "B.C.'s anti-gang police unit raided a Campbell River motorcycle clubhouse Thursday morning as part of its investigation into the homicide last year of a Saanich mixed martial arts fighter. The Combined Forces Special Enforcement unit says it will remain on the scene at the Devils Army Outlaw Motorcycle Gang Clubhouse for several days gathering evidence relating to the discovery of John Dillon Brown's body in March of last year. The clubhouse is located at 70 Petersen Road in Campbell River."

The Devil's Rejects are a Hells Angels puppet club. Grown men calling themselves the Devil's Army. If they only had a brain. Rainbow Ricky and the crew had a gay pride parade for them last April at the Langford clubhouse. That's just plain stupid. Don't support idiots any more.

The Devil's Army clubhouse in Langford is subject to a court action with the city.

Fatal motorcycle accident in Delta

Global is reporting that Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash at the base of Nordel Way near Highway 91 in Delta on Wednesday afternoon. CTV News is reporting that "A male motorcyclist in his 50s is dead following a collision with an SUV in Delta Wednesday, police say."

"The crash occurred at about 2:20 p.m. in the 10500 block of Nordel Way near 112 Street. Delta investigators said in a statement they believe the SUV was travelling west, but crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck the motorcycle. The rider was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not been identified." Could have been me but it wasn't.

There are a lot of things you can do on a motorcycle to drive responsibly and defensively. In this case the SUV crossed over the centerline into oncoming traffic. There's not much you can do in that situation. It's like running a red light. Some things are just bigger than we are. RIP.

The Return of the Ontario Village Idiots

Well the Ontario Village Idiots are back only these ones aren't affiliated with the Hells Angels. The Toronto Star is reporting that the Ontario Provincial Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a group of complete losers blocking traffic on motorcycles. There a bunch of scrawny weasels on sports bikes for god's sake. Empowered by the mob mentality they think if enough fly sh*t gathers in one place they all of a sudden become someone. Not. All you get is a bigger pile of fly sh*t. Time to bring out the fly swatter.

Blocking traffic like that on the freeway means not only are they weasels but they are a*sholes too. History has recorded that. See you on the other side losers. You'll be the one with an AL on your forehead: A*shole and Loser at the same time. What a way to be remembered.

The Cronyism of Gordon Wilson

Interesting little drama queen puppet show in the Vancouver Province recently. Some people just like to create controversy even when there's none to be had. This time the spin is coming from Mike Smyth. He wrote an article entitled The sliming of Gordon Wilson, then the apology. I find his comments suspicious to say the least.

Initially John Horgan and Bruce Ralston's mortal sin was they said Gordon Wilson did little to earn his lavious salary "advocating" for LGN. That is fair comment. The public opinion is that the sweetheart appointment came as a favour after his wife wrote a book about Christy Clark called Behind the Smile. The dirty deal reeked of cronyism.

Let me first say that Bruce Ralston is from Surrey. He is a longstanding MLA that has a great deal of respect in this community. He should speak out against the cronyism that made the New York Times. That would be the responsible thing to do.

Leaving context, Smyth splits hairs and quotes Horgan as saying Gordon Wilson didn't file any reports. Well it turns out that Smyth searched some archives and actually found a couple of reports Gordon Wilson did submit one that was even 180 pages long. It's doubtful he wrote it but he did submit it nonetheless. One could argue reports are a dime a dozen and in context Gordon Wilson didn't do anything worth his exuberant salary because lobbyists is a cushy job to say the least. The position he received as a favour after his wife wrote the book for Christy Clark.

After Smyth pointed out that Wilson had in fact written a couple of reports, Bruce Ralston and John Horgan both apologized. Oh your right He did write a couple of reports. Our bad. However the context of their concern remains valid. Now Smyth is spinning for Gordon Wilson like he's on his payroll because most of the columnists in the Vancouver Sun Province have become Harold Munroe lap dogs feeding the corporate media frenzy. The corporate media doesn't like the fact that the Greens have insisted Corporate and Union political donations cease.

It is somewhat bizarre that Smyth is going on and on about this even raising the question of a defamation law suit when he admits the lawsuit has no merit and would lose in court. He just mentions it to create drama. Somewhat ironic that anyone from the Vancouver Province would go on and on about a defamation law suit that has no merit when they themselves just had to payout a defamation law suit they lost. Gordon Wilson's wife Judy and her ex husband were also named in that defamation suit.

Putting Gordon Wilson's history in context, we remember that he was the one that put the BC Liberals on the map. Before him the BC Liberals didn't exist. It was all Socreds and NDP. He was on a televised debate with Rit Johnston and Mike Harcourt who were bickering back and forth like cats and dogs. He just said there ya have it folks. Now you can see why nothing gets done in parliament. He was right. People wanted an alternative and he put the party on the map. After his affair with Judy Tyabji Gordon Campbell stole the party from him and the rest is history.

Recently Gordon Wilson's son was criticized for posing with his step brother Kasimir Tyabji-Sandana who is seen in the top picture with his mother Judy and Christy Clark. Kasimir was arrested in Calgary for importing fentanyl. Bad luck. Anyone's kid could get involved in that. Even the mayor of Vancouver. It just makes it problematic durring an election campaign.

Shootings in Surrey and Richmond

CTV is reporting that "Mounties are investigating a string of shootings in Surrey that took place within hours of each other Tuesday, the last of which left one man in hospital. The victim was found wounded inside a black pickup truck that was marked by bullet holes and a shattered rear window around 10:30 p.m. The pickup pulled up to a fire hall in the Fraser Heights area shortly after the RCMP received reports of shots fired a few blocks away on 89A Avenue."

"The shooting victim was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. Not long after, a car was torched in the Port Kells neighbourhood. The previous two shootings both happened in the Clayton Heights area of the city. Fortunately, no one was struck during either. Bullets did hit a vehicle and a garage door around noon at a property on 180 Street. Mounties said the suspected gunman was on a motorcycle, and fled before officers arrived. Hours later, around 7 p.m., shots were fired from one vehicle to another on 72 Avenue."

Surrey's top cop suspects shootings linked to drug trade

News 1130 s reporting that "Many in Surrey remain concerned following a day which saw three separate shootings. But the RCMP says it has plenty to work with as it investigates. The city’s commanding officer suspects recent shootings may be drug-related." Ya think?! Ya think maybe providing the Hells Angels drug dealers on the Surrey strip police protection is making the situation worse? Ya think arresting the drug dealers that are selling fentanyl in public might be a step forward perhaps? Ya think addressing the problem on the Surrey stip might be a bit more proactive then running around like idiots chasing the symptom is less productive than addressing the cause of the problem? Did Bill fordy really leave?

Richmond shooting

CBC is reporting that "RCMP in Richmond, B.C., say one person has been seriously injured after an early morning shooting Tuesday. RCMP say the shooting, which took place just before 6 a.m. PT, happened on Waterton Drive near Steveston Highway. One person was taken to hospital with serious injuries." The Richmond News is reporting that the victim is known to the police but has no known ties to gangs or organized crime..
