  1. We used to say that in Kosovo nothing good ever happens after 10pm. That applies to a lot of other places too, and apparently Surrey is one of them......

  2. so did the surrey mayor run over to the hospital and tell them they had to pay their own medical bills? did the cabinet minister who was there last announce once again the new RCMP officers were on their way? Did Fordy wake up for the event? Did he know about the shootings?

Yes, those 3 had a press conference what was it, a month or 2 ago and since then, nothing has changed and the shootings continue. Well the voters did put them into office so they have only themselves to blame.

What amazes me is with all these shootings no one has gotten killed. either they aren't trying, don't know how to shoot, or are just out for an evening of "fun".

    1. Well, ownership of firearms and the availability of places to shoot have both been discouraged in Canada by almost every politician you can name, the RCMP and other Police "Services", and by every other fan of State authority for going on 40 years now. You would hardly believe that Canada was ever a place there were small towns where many 12 yr old boys had their own .22 rifle at a minimum. Canadian society has been effectively neutered as regards firearms culture compared to what it used to be.

Given that and the heinous representations in popular media of what constitutes the correct employment of a firearm, we can't really be surprised that people somehow feel that bullets are self guiding, and need only be triggered to find their way to where they are intended to strike.

Ask yourself why so few politicians or Canadian policemen (I have to make that distinction because as a whole, many American policemen are enthusiastic proponents) are in favor of private firearms ownership, and why they are always looking to further restrict them. The fact that you find the answer uncomfortable doesn't make it any less true. If you believe the answer is public safety, you are wrong, and since you are so ill-informed, it will doubtless shock you to find out that a Canadian (rather than an American) professor/researcher has the data to prove that more firearms in public hands = less violent crime, not more. The fact that the same politicians who believe themselves your unaccountable elected betters tell you otherwise should give you an "ah-hah" moment.

Free men own weapons, slaves don't. Just keep going to work and paying your taxes, slave. Oh, and be sure to vote, because it makes a difference.

  3. Australia banned guns and their gun deaths have dropped especially teenagers by suicide. Japan has one of the strictest gun laws in the world. They have about a dozen gun killings per year.

guns kill. the fewer the better. those who have them ought to have compulsory training; mental health checks, no criminal records. The Cons got rid of the gun registry. We can only hope the next federal government brings it back.

Lets not forget in many rural communities where there is no law enforcement, men use those guns to threaten the women in their lives. Not a pleasant way to live.

No one needs an automatic weapon to go hunting for food.

With all the catterwalling about 9/11 and the World Trade building killings Americans forget that since then over 80K people have been killed in their country by guns violence. If Americans were really concerned about terrorists and getting killed, they ought to start by disarming their own population. No terrorists have killed as many people as the Americans have killed by killing each other by privately held guns.

Switzerland does have a lot of private gun owners. Most likely the highest proportionately in the world. However, they are a well to do country, fairly civilized actually and you can't say that about a lot of North America.

    1. Yeah I believe in the right to bear arms. I realize there are pros and cons to the debate. Guns too accessible to kids in the US is a concern but I do believe people have the right to defend their homes and families from intruders. Our current system has failed. Only the criminals have guns. That's absurd.

    2. e.a.f. needs a reality check. I notice he/she (I suspect she, I'll get to that in a minute) didn't bother to mention Great Britain, where the number of violent offenses with edged weapons and blunt instruments has skyrocketed in the 20 years since Dunblaine, so much so that they've had to ban knives. I suspect we'd find much the same in OZ. Japan has always been about edged weapons anyway. The only people who have guns there are organized crime.

The Cons DID NOT get rid of the Gun Registry, they got rid of the LONG GUN registry. BIG difference. But hey, why worry about things like truth and accuracy here when it's an issue we feel strongly about. One of the reasons it was got rid of was that it never helped the police solve any crimes, something to do with criminals not registering theirs....the other was massive cost over runs.....it was originally supposed to pay for itself thru user based fee's LOL. Another lie from your elected masters.

Here's why I think e.a.f. is a woman. "in many rural communities where there is no law enforcement, men use those guns to threaten the women in their lives". AYFKM. Yeah, that's right, that's the only thing they use them for. Not for hunting or anything. Not self defense when the Mounties have to fly in a few days later, talk about a slow response time. Jeez. A whole new dimension to "when seconds count, we're only minutes away". Lets also talk about the number of women who have been killed by abusive spouses while waiting for their permit application to be approved, or in Canada where they can't have one anyway. Yeah, your government cares about your safety......

Seriously, look at the list of how people die. Guns is actually way down on the list. Doctors kill more people. Face it, people do violence to each other. Guns may make that a bit more convenient, but if you're serious, it gets done regardless. Ask the poor guy in Greece about that. I'll bet he and every relative he has wishes he'd had a Glock "pocket rocket" to defend himself, because he likely would not be laying brain dead in a hospital right now.

Automatic weapons to go hunting? No one does that anyway, but it's a common "straw man" among the anti-gun folks. Guess what, the Second Amendment wasn't about duck hunting. No one is saying you have to own a gun, they're just saying that you don't get to tell other people if they can own one.

Unless you've lived in America, (visiting doesn't count) there's a simple little fact you might not be aware of. Much of the time, the right people are getting shot. Often by each other, God bless their little hearts. There's a saying in Chicago that "someone is going to get shot today, as long as it's the right someone, it's all good."

Ah, Switzerland. "The land of chocolate". Or maybe that's Belgium. In any event, e.a.f. makes a bit of mis-statement. Saying the Swiss have a lot of private gun owners completely misses the point, namely that every household in Switzerland has a military issue assault rifle and a basic load of ammunition for it. That's because every Swiss male does military service at 18 years of age and stays in the Active Reserves until age 45, the Inactive Reserves until 60. They have never been invaded. On top of that their gun crime rate is almost non-existent. Burglary too for some odd reason. Must be because they are so civilized and all. Opens up a can of worms right there as to why Canada might be different doesn't it/

    3. A lot of people in Canada support gun control. I'm not one of them. My ex was but that's one of the reasons she's my ex. There were a lot of things we didn't agree on.

I didn't realize Switzerland has a lot of gun owners. Switzerland is well known for being a peaceful country. They also have conscription too. Mandatory military service for all their citizens. Self defense promotes peace.

    1. As you say, the criminals have all the guns.....interesting how gun control is supposed to be about crime control.....do criminals obey laws? Nope. See how that doesn't work? Yet it's an article of faith that some good is done by this. Personally I find that a criminal records check at point of sale is all good, but past that, why should the government (whom supposedly work for YOU) care if a law abiding citizen has or carries a gun?

Here's why. Gun control is not about crime control. It's about PEOPLE CONTROL. It's about a government monopoly on the use of force. A government that is truly the servant of it's people does not care if they have guns. Government that is made nervous by this has thereby made it's true nature known.

    2. I agree sir. Our government is way off track concerning firearms. I dont really wanna see guns in grocery stores. However we have gone too far in the opposite direction. I waited several months to get my PAL back from the feds. No reason it should take more than a few days. With internet technology now. Ought to be able to print it out after u finish the course.

  6. If everyone had the right to bear arms in open and concealed carry options in Canada, crime would be almost non-existent.

    1. Street crime and robbery is very low everywhere this is an option, and markedly higher wherever it is not. It's not even close. This is what drives "progressives" crazy, places where they control the city/county/state government are through the roof violent crime wise (L.A., Chicago, NYC, Atlanta, etc.) whereas other places where people carry firearms either concealed or openly it is much lower, and most of the violent crime winds up being intramural, gang members, drug dealers and the like. Which as I mentioned above, I fully support, other than the publicly borne medical costs when they manage to survive each others efforts.
