Being Prepared in chaotic times
A lot of Americans are panic buying firearms and ammunition again. Although the handgun freeze is still in effect Canadians can still take the firearms safety course and purchase long guns. As the Assembly of First Nations Chiefs pointed out, hunting is a treaty right. You can't ban hunting.
Since I'm so carefully monitored and since Google freaks out if I talk about legally acquired guns, I won't discuss which guns I think everyone should have. All I'm going to say is that it's a good idea to have a hunting rifle, a shotgun and a semi automatic rifle. Lever action rifles are just plain fun to shoot. That's all I'm going to say. Figure it out. If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear.
I just want to clarify something on the Tyson James music video Enemy of the State. January 6th was not an insurrection. It was a set up. The police let them in. QAnon Sharman got a police escort thorough the building. Anyone who counsels you to use violence is an Agent Provocateur. Defending yourself against looters is fine. Waging war with the police is not. That's what the WEF wants you to do so they can justify taking all our rights away. We need to be smart not impulsive.

I can have my shot gun ready to go in 20 to 30 second as I follow safe storage laws. Alot faster than the cops can show up. I believe in Canada we should have the same right to bear arms like Americans. Especially when you live in the country with 4 People per sq km and criminals are pretty rampant in this banana commonwealth.

DeleteThe Nanaimo encampment shooting ruling seems to imply homeless people get to have that right but we don't.

DeleteWe have property rights though, those come from British Common Law pre the Charter. Long time ago a guy in North Van, his kid broke into his cabinet and used one of his shotguns to commit an offense, cops wanted to keep it, Judge made them give it back.

Hunting is a pastime every True North Strong and Free Canadian should be prepared for.

Yeah the .223 is fine for small game but the .308 or the SKS is better for larger game.
DeleteThe SKS is a great rifle, non-restricted and relatively inexpensive. The 7.62x39 round is the ballistic equivalent, bullet weight and velocity, of the .30-30 all those Winchester and Marlin lever actions are chambered for, and those lever guns are the classic deer rifle going back 100 years. They'll do for black bear as well. The SKS is a great value for anyone looking to have an insurance policy for defense or hunting, and the ammo is pretty cheap as well, only $479/case of 1500 rds, $264.99 a can of 750, or $17.50/box of 50 rds, and $429/1100 rd case on stripper clips down at Lever Arms on Burrard St.This is important because stripper clips is how you load an SKS unless you want to do it one round at a time. Lever Arms also has Russian SKS rifles, arsenal refurbished for $649.99 or fitted with the spring loaded firing pins to eliminate the off possibility of "out of battery" slam fires which can be dangerous, for $750. Pay the extra $100 for peace of mind. The Russian SKS are really high quality, very strong laminated wood stocks, you can't go wrong.
ReplyDeleteI love the SKS and I love the ATI synthetic stocks for the SKS. It brings an old gun back to life like new. I'm thrilled they weren't banned.
DeleteThank you for mentioning Lever Arms. Recall it well from the 70s on Howe St. Allan owned the shop at the time. He had some amazing guns including some very cute tiny guns, which worked. e.a.f.

ReplyDelete1st safe storage is just smart practice when at home especially with kids.
2nd is the loss of your rights as a Canadian, when dealing with property rights and B&E or home invasions when I fire arm is involved.
All I can say is I rather be judge by 12 than carried by 6.

DeleteWatson, I can not believe you didn't know what the line meant. It was a line used by more than a few. Certainly recall hearing it in the 1970s, probably heard it in the 1960s but the line is much older than that. Its just in the 1960s I heard it. I believe the line originally came from the U.S.A.

These days, ALWAYS choose a jury trial rather than by Judge alone.
