NDP MPs oppose Justin Trudeau's last minute amendment to Bill C-21 targeting hunters and farmers

In addition to the Assembly of First Nations unanimously opposing Justin Trudeau's last minute amendment to the gun control bill affecting long guns and hunters, several NDP Members of Parliament have also spoken out against the last minute amendment in support of their constituents. They know, if they support this, they will not be reelected.

Taylor Bachrach, NDP MP for Skeena-Bulkley Valley spoke out in resounding opposition to the overreaching amendment. He said people feel hoodwinked by these last minute amendments.

Alistair MacGregor, NDP MP for Cowichan-Malahat-Langford opposed the amendment and said the government's proposed amendment to C-21 has become a textbook case on what not to do.

Rachel Blaney, NDP MP for North Island-Powell River, has spoken out against the last minute amendment because she represents her constituents. She said that it feels like a target on rural communities and has distracted from the original purpose of the bill.

Gord Johns, NDP MP for Courtenay-Alberni, also opposes it. He said "The Liberals promised they would keep us safe from handgun violence but at the very last second the Liberals added an amendment to Bill C-21 that isn't about keeping our city centers or children safe but instead would hurt rural and coastal communities. This bill was supposed to protect people not go after hunters, farmers and indiginous peoples."

Lori Idlout, NDP MP for Nunavut opposes the amendment. She said "Bill C-21 was about getting handguns off the streets but now with this last minute amendment the Liberal government has shown how out of touch they are with the daily life of Nunavut." They need to protect themselves from polar bears. Rural communities need to be able to protect themselves from predators.

Aside from being a fake feminist and a fake environmentalist, Justin Trudeau is also a fake advocate for Indigenous people. He is a liar with an agenda that has absolutely nothing to do with protecting people. Instead of protecting people, he wants to oppress them.

In addition to various members of the NDP who comprise the backbone of his fragile minority, two Liberal MPs from the Northwest Territories and the Yukon have also spoken out in opposition to the amendment. It's time the NDP and the Liberals both elect a new leader.
