Nanaimo News Now is reporting that "At least one person is in hospital and another is in custody following a shooting and stabbing in downtown Nanaimo.
Emergency crews were called to 20 Barsby Ave. along the Milestone River shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14.
Nanaimo RCMP Res. Cst. Gary O’Brien said they received a report of shots fired near a homeless encampment by the old White Spot location at 130 Terminal Ave."
“Members attended (and) found one individual, an adult woman, with injuries, non-life-threatening. That person was taken to hospital. A suspect has been detained. We believe we have the individual who is allegedly responsible for this, and a firearm has been located and seized.
One person was also stabbed during the incident at the encampment near the Millstone River." Drug promotion is violent crime promotion.
The Guardian is reporting that "An exhaustive study which tracked more than 8,000 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and another 3,700 identified as having bipolar disorder over three decades in Sweden found that the abuse of illegal drugs and alcohol caused mentally ill people to perpetrate crimes of murder, manslaughter and sexual violence."

LOL Wally Stadnick, what a joke. Leave it to Beaver. He was Mom Boucher's b*tch. They had Boucher's friends in the Rock Machine murder their own members who they saw as rivals to their leadership. Wally embraced Boucher after he got out of jail for armed rape. Wally was an Anglophone from Ontario.
DeleteYeah that article has more than a few errors. It describes Stadnick as being from B.C., and puts Yves Trudeau on the hook for the Lennoxville Massacre when in fact he was to be a target that day and escaped only because he was a no-show. Thereafter he became a witness for the Crown.
DeleteYves flipped after they tried to kill him as they often do to their own hitmen.
DeleteGiven most people do not wake up one morning and decide to engage in murder, manslaughter and sexual violence there must be something else driving the individuals. Sweden's research has provided valueable information regarding the issue. If people are mentally ill (their brains not firing properly) if they add mood altering substances to that things will most likely go sideways.
ReplyDeleteMental health issues are not always diagnosed or are actually ignored. It would help if children were assessed in schools and provided treatment at a much earlier age than they currently are.
Males tend to develop symptoms in their late teens early twenties, while females in their twenties and thirties. Some one with schizophenia need a lot of medical and social support to make it through life. That doesn't happen enough.
Putting money into diagnosis and treatment on an on going basis along with decent living conditions, society would save a lot of misery and money. These things are expensive and so are the current conditions. There doesn't appear to be a consistent strategy to deal with the issues. Its all piecemeal. In the end of each person's life from substance abuse I'm sure more money is spent on them than if people were provided treatmetn and housing. , with earlier diagnosis.
I drive through the area you mention regarding the shooting and stabbing. Its like another world in some areas. At one time I could not have imagined so many people living in these conditions, but here we are. If these people were dogs, cats, horses, etc. the governmetn would be stepping in and deal with the issue. If an animal is left in a car on a hot day, the RCMP or SPCA is called. If its a human so high on drugs they are bent in a pretzel on the hot sidewalk it just gets ignored. Perhaps it is time we abandon the "experts" and ask the people who are ill what they need to feel better.
As I understand it, Government is not permitted to force people into medical treatments they don't want unless they are a danger to themselves or others. I'd suggest most of the people we see on the streets suffering from the various mental illnesses and subtance abuses are a danger to themselves. However, if they all went into treatment I'm sure the taxpayers of the country would revolt. Most countries also don't have enough people to work in this field. e.a.f.
The Portugal model succeeded because they made treatment mandatory. The people living in these camps are not happy they are miserable and we are helping keep them there slaves by promoting their addiction. As a result, sexual violation against women skyrockets. Do we care about women's rights or do we just want to use them to create lawlessness and misery? People with mental health issue should not be given harmful drugs. That makes them violent.
