Hunter Biden's plea deal set aside

The BBC is reporting that "An agreement expected to see US President Joe Biden's son, Hunter, plead guilty to tax charges and admit a gun offence has dramatically fallen apart in court. The plea deal, negotiated over several weeks, was likely to spare the younger Mr Biden prison time. But a judge on Wednesday said she could not rubber stamp the agreement. Hunter Biden's lawyers have been given 14 days to hash out a new deal with the prosecution."

The Guardian is rpeoritng that "Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, pleaded not guilty to tax charges on Wednesday, after a federal judge in Delaware said she needed more time to review a proposed deal with federal prosecutors to avoid a felony gun charge.'

The BBC article clarifies that "But during the three-hour hearing, US District Court Judge Maryellen Noreika questioned whether the deal would also provide Hunter Biden with immunity from crimes he could be found liable for in the future. She said the agreement contained non-standard terms and its proposed resolution for the gun possession offence was unusual."

That makes sense. This isn't for all the shady business deals in the Ukraine. This is just for tax evasion and a minor gun charge. This plea deal should not be a blank check for everything he's done but hasn't been charged with. It's not amnesty for Metabiota and the bio labs.

  1. Well of course they’re going to try. I’m surprised and elated the judge had the backbone to question and reject this proposed deal. This is a WIN for decency a kudos to this judge!

  2. That minor gun charge is good for 10 years, and even if he gets less than that, he will be a convicted felon.

    1. I don't believe that. The right to bear arms is a Constitutional right. You're not allowed to own a gun if you use drugs? What about alcohol? I say the charge was insignificant especially when you compare it to his dirty bio lab deals. Oh they won't charge him for that because it would implicate too many other people as well.

    2. Of course. Why do you think they’re all trying to keep things within an appearance of what’s punitive while allowing Hunter to escape with respectfully nothing. Another smoke and mirrors gimmick where the Americans are supposed to say “ Well related to Brandon or not he got his fair sentence”. The judge said what am I stupid and expected to roll over? That ain’t happening here folks. We will have to wait and see how much pressure the powers that be might be able to sway this judge. Love her confidence in her character though.

  4. They tried to get an immunity clause past the judge as well, whereby if he did this plea deal he would have immunity from any other criminal charges for anything else he has done. Nice try lawyers, good job Judge.
