Fentanyl dealers charged with manslaughter

The Vancouver sun is reporting that "Republicans in New Hampshire, which is facing an overdose crisis like that in B.C., are currently proposing a requirement for a manslaughter charge for fentanyl dealers when a user dies. In October, Edmonton police laid a manslaughter charge against a 25-year-old man in connection with the overdose death of another man early last year."

Without question, this would be a step forward but the inherit problem remains unresolved. Selling drugs is illegal. Everyone including the addicts are upset about buying drugs that are laced with fentanyl when they think they are buying something else. That means the police have a free license to arrest these drug dealers but they are refusing to do so. This needs to change.

  1. Fentanyl dealers gotta be treated as murderers. Wouldn't doubt it if there was a Fentanyl mass / serial killer out there. Cold blooded making addicts OD intentionally.

Canada's spineless. Deep down they know they are cut from the same cloth as the gangsters. Like extortion money, selling prescription medications, wearing colours. It's just normalized now. Lock the fentanyl dealers up and let them out when there 80. Release them to the families of their victoms. It takes a certain kind of human to knowingly sell something that is causing death.

    1. Simple. Execute 2 dealers for every overdose. No repeat offenders and quite simple really.

    2. Wishful thinking with due process and all. Arresting them for breaking the law would be a huge step forward. Executing politicians for not enforcing the law would be tempting but problematic. There just aren't enough bullets to do the job properly. There is too much corruption in politics.

  2. The Fentanyl mass/serial killer is our own Government
wake up people - this is by design
drug dealers count on their clients
this is a sick and criminal way of cleaning up the streets

    1. The government and City Hall are definitely complacent. Many people have implied a greater conspiracy at play arguing that the drug dealers want customers they don't want to kill their customers.

However, it's pretty clear that the drug dealers in Vancouver are trying to create a market for fentanyl here similar to the one in Calgary where people addicted to fentanyl are knowingly buying it. The drug dealers here are lacing their drugs with fentanyl to get people addicted to it so they can make more money. They dont care if a few customers die in the process because over all there is much more money to be made if they can create fentanyl addicts here. That's why not arresting them for doing that is insane.

It's not cleaning up the streets it's creating more and more addicts like an epidemic. Harm promotion is not working. Now I am receiving reports that addicts are asking for fentanyl at times even demanding it. That shows that their plot to bring the Calgary fentanyl market here worked.

  3. Get a grip, as if the government is killing people. These dealers need extreme pain inflicted on them, like they freely give to there victims, please charge some of these people.

    1. Canada is not a country run by the Taliban and we don't "inflect" pain on criminals. Canada is a democracy with a judicial system which needs to be adhered to.

Edmonton was able to arrest a fent. dealer. it did it with the laws currently on the books. B.C. hasn't done the same thing because, in my opinion, the provincial government doesn't want to spend the money on increasing staff within the judicial and penitenary system.

Christy Clark and the b.c. lieberals have a $2 billion surplus but refuse to provide additional and necessary detox or treatment for addicts or more policing and judicial officers to deal with the crimes. As a min. police ought to be arresting the dealers, taking away their cash and drugs. they can then always release them. We don't have enough prison space to house them. Take away the profit and they may find something else to do.

The B.C. provincial government will continue to do little to nothing about the fent. crisis because it of little concern to the b.c. lieberals and their financial supporters. Its all about LNG, Site C, real estate profits. There is nothing about the fent. crisis which would be a game changer during an election, hence no real action by the b.c. lieberals.

    2. I'm not going to flog a dead horse here. The police need to arrest the dealers selling drugs laced with fentanyl. Failing to do so is criminally insane.

    1. I understand where's your going but personally I think women in labour are given fentanyl for the pain like an epidural. If childbirth was up to men we'd hit zero population growth in a hurry. Doctors overprescribing opiates for every day pain is however a colossal concern.
