CBC is reporting that "A bystander was wounded during a shooting at a downtown Winnipeg hookah lounge just hours into the new year, Winnipeg police say.
Winnipeg police told CBC News they were notified of a shooting at the One XVII Lounge at 260 St. Mary Ave. shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Monday.
An altercation between two groups is believed to have taken place before the shot was fired, police say. The bullet ricocheted and struck a bystander, who was taken to hospital in stable condition.
