Coups are never the answer
I just want to be clear about one thing. Although I do believe electronic voting fraud is real and rampant, coups are never the answer and I'll explain why. What's bad for the goose is bad for the gander. The CIA has been actively involved in Coup d'états all over the world and it's never a good thing. It's always to subvert democracy. Yes, voter fruad is also an atempt to subvert democracy but two wrongs don't make a right. The simple solution is to acknowledge the risky nature of electronic voting and mail in ballots by preserving physical ballots for a judicial recount.

Everyone should read the book Bitter Fruit by Stephen Schlesinger.
ReplyDeleteSounds interesting. I'm more familiar with Operation Ajax in Iran.
DeleteI'm pretty sure the American people don't generally support the idea of CIA backed coup's in other countries. And yet there have been so many of them, attempted or succeeded. More than I thought. Until I actually thought about it. Guatemala, El Salvador, Chile, Iran, Vietnam....I think Nicaragua even though it didn't succeed.....wow. Panama. Pineapple face was Bush 41's buddy until he wasn't. Libya most recently.
ReplyDeleteQuit a few were nominally "anti-Communist"......Allende in Chile.....yet it seems there was always some kind of other motive, business/oil usually.
Seems the CIA fucks up most everything it touches. Exists to provide early warning among other things, yet fails most of the time, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. When you look at it on the whole, objectively, it's failures far outnumber it's successes.
One wonders what it's actual level of involvement in Ukraine at the moment looks like.
Exactly. The CIA does what it wants with no public accountability.
DeleteThe last US President who tried to discipline the CIA was JFK.
DeleteReagan made the mistake of being president with George Bush as vice president, and that almost cost him
DeleteIndeed, it almost cost Reagan his life:

GB was the one that got the CIA addicted to drug trafficking in Vietnam.
He also happened to be in Dallas, the day Kennedy died
