Another Canadian drug dealer murdered in Mexico

Without diving too much into the details of each case, I just want to cite the drug related murders of four Canadians in Mexico which I feel are very much related. Most recently we have a senior UN member murdered in Mexico named Salih Abdulaziz Sahbaz. He was 37 and returned regularly to Surrey.

He took over after UN member Elliott Castenada was murdered in Mexico. In between those two murders, Gordon Kendall and Jeffry Ivans, Hells Angels associates from Kamloops were also brutally murdered in Mexico.

Gord and Jeff didn't look like Hells Angel associates. They looked like two fun loving Canadians who got in over their head. They were making drug connections for the Hells angels in Mexico and were dealing with the Mexican cartels. The local news ran photos of their dead bodies in the paper. It was horrible.

We all know when someone gets shot, they bleed. We see people get shot on TV all the time. Seeing the recent photo of Salih's dead body reminded me of the photos of Gord and Jeff's. There was a huge amount of blood. I'm not the type of guy to print those kinds of pictures.

I didn't post pictures of Larry Amero lying on the ground bleeding after he was shot in Kelowna. I didn't post pictures of the Montreal mafioso that was shot and swam across the freezing river only to be found dead on the other side of the river lying in the snow. I didn't even post pictures of the Risottos at his son's funeral. We need to have a little more respect than that.

Some would argue that showing these pictures of the brutally murdered gang members is a good poster for kids so they don't get involved in that lifestyle. I understand the argument. I'm just not going to participate in it. I prefer to remember Gord and Jeff as the fun loving Bob and Doug Mackenzie types who were obviously fun, kind and friendly. To me that is just as significant because it shows how easily anyone can get tempted by the quick cash that comes at far too great a price. That is a real tragedy.

    1. It just reminds me of a scene in the movie Shake Hands with the Devil about a Canadian general serving in Rwanda. Innocent people were getting slaughtered all over the place. There were bodies all over the road and cars were driving right over them. He gets out of his car and starts clearing the road lining all the bodies side by side to be buried. It was just a small act showing respect for the dead. I'm sure the people who posted the gruesome photos likely want to show that gang life is not as glamorous as it appears on TV which is important. I just think there has to be a better way.

    1. Chloe: If your son was or does get murdered I most certainly won't post pictures of his dead body even if the drug and weapons charges involving him and his associates turn out to be true. Your rage and denial is very twisted. You scream and say he's innocent until proven guilty. Then you admit he wasn't the ring leader. The ring leader was still walking the street. Which supports my point. The Hells Angels use these young men to make money for them and they assume none of the risk. Clearly it is not unlawful to say that he was arrested and charged in GP's largest cocaine bust. Nor is it unlawful to say that the Baseball Team, the logo he posted on his facebook on a public profile, are affiliated with the Hells Angels. That is a true statement. Your rage and denial enables the gang war and the murder of these young men just like Brian was.

    3. Please don’t play the victim. Given the rageful threats that you and your trolls made against my family and I, that would be somewhat hypocritical. It’s not a matter of me winning. It’s a matter of common sense. I haven’t insulted you, I have spoken the truth. When the parent of a gang member helps hide their son’s criminal activity then they are enablers for the violence associated with the gang war. That is a fact. You deny that your son was involved with the Hells Angels and with drug trafficking yet you know he was and rationalize it by claiming he wasn’t the ring leader. No, but he was indeed an active participant.

The parents of the Bacon brothers were clearly bad parents. Not only did they know about their sons’ criminal activity, they evidently benefitted from the proceeds of crime. Not all parents of gang members are bad parents. There was a rally in Bear Creek Park in Surrey several years ago where they released doves in memory of loved ones lost in the gang violence. One mother spoke who lost a son that was not an innocent victim. He was a drug dealer. Yet she spoke about her son’s good side without denying his bad side. It was enlightening. Good kids are getting drawn into the gang violence and we need to encourage them to avoid it.

  3. METRO VANCOUVER - One man is dead and another is in critical condition after what police say was a targeted shooting overnight in Surrey.

RCMP got a call around 11 p.m. that two men had been shot at the 13900-block of 56th Avenue.

Two men, aged 27 and 28, were found at the scene suffering from gunshot wounds, Sgt. Jennifer Pound, spokeswoman for the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT), said in a release.

Both victims were taken to hospital where one them died, she said.

Doctors operated on the second victim who is in critical condition.

"Although it is in the very early stages, at this point this shooting appears to be targeted and gang related," Pound said."
